2010 Jetta TDI ABS issue missing software code

Hello folks,

Title says it all, I just finished rebuilding this car to find out I had ABS, Brake lights lights flashing on the cluster, pulling the ABS codes (listed below) I see under the module code its all Zeros.... grrrr (I did not back it up)I think I need to address this issue first. I have no clue were to get this software code. I did find on the forms here a audi A3 which appears to have the identical module would it be safe to use that code(listed Below at the bottom of the page)? if not could I get some help finding it? Vag-com rocks! TY

- That coding would not work, the coding is based on the vehicle's specifics.

- Have you checked your logs folder yet for any chance of an Auto-Scan?

Without a full Auto-Scan including the complete VIN, there's zero chance that anyone can build a coding for you.

You might also want to tell us what "rebuilding" means in this context. Were any control modules changed?

I basically took the complete drive train off a rear end hit TDI same vin 5 & 7 diget vin# with 30k on it and transferred it to this vehicle(fuel pump failure), never touch the ABS module. on my test drive the abs brakes are working... traction control is not working. I deleted the EGR and DPF system.

Complete drivetrain, eh?

How about the ECU and the instrument cluster? Are they both original, or is either from the donor car? Does the VIN shown at the top of the scan match the physical VIN plate on the car? The VIN is critical here, because part of it must be incorporated into the ABS module's coding, and installing parts (particularly a cluster) with the wrong VIN will cause the ABS to lose its coding (which is what I suspect happened here).

ECU is from the donor the cluster is on the seat beside me lol , but I had the same problem form the Original ECU and cluster as well. I tried to pull the Software code from the donor ESP/ABS module but had no luck zero'ed out on me as well. The VIN# would not show up on ether ECU's I found that weird, now I see this may be a issue we need to work through as well dang it! Your turn boss!

You still haven't told us: The VIN in your scan -- does it belong to this car or the car that donated the drivetrain?

Good question. Don't know the answer. I *think* the ABS only really cares about the VIN in the cluster, so at a very minimum, anyone who's going to try to build you a coding for this car is going to need that. Take a look in the cluster, it should have an Adaptation channel named "WFS-Download - VIN" or (something close) and see if there's a VIN in there.

The above procedure is crack way. I really would not recommend to keep wrong VIN in modules vs VIN of the car.
Correct way is write correct VIN in Cluster and ECU .So you will have all match. But this can not be done with VCDS.
I can fix this , contact me direct .

then after all is fix , you need to post auto scan here and see if someone can built ABS coding, or go to Dealer and do online ABS coding.

Uwe, VIN can be seen in Advace Id, either in ECU or cluster.
