Audi A3 89 rear passenger door only opens from inside

This error only seems to have started now I actually need to get stuff in and out of the passenger rear door. It won't open/unlock using the key fob, internal central unlocking button or manually using the external handle. It will open if you use the internal door handle

Please post a complete auto-scan....... not what you think is relevant.

Fix the obvious mechanical problem with the lock unit, or outer handle.

Get a repair manual at Erwin.

Really? I wasn't aware Audi made an A3 model in 1980, and if they did, it certainly wouldn't have been diagnostic capable.

Also the thread title states it's an 89. Also not plausible. Except if maybe if you're talking about "registration plates" which are irrelevant, because they don't correlate to model year very well at all, and it's utterly meaningless to anyone who lives on anything resembling a continent rather than an island.

So please post at least the first 10 digits of your VIN. ;)

Ahhhhhh you describe it..........

The point is that this is a mechanical issue being general repair.

You must take the door apart and inspect it via the repair manual, or take both rear doors apart and compare function and fitment operation.

If doing so......... take pictures as you go.

Remember...... VCDS is a tool, not an elixir ...........nor a substitute for the repair manual, or common sense.
