RLS and the PQ-25 BCM

I installed RLS in the car this weekend, and everything seems to be working.... however the only thing I cannot figure how to do is set the Coming Home to Auto, it currently requires a flip on the high beam stick for it to work, leaving home works great.. rain sensor works, light sensor works... anyway, thanks in advance...

I've noticed a lot of undocumented bits in the pq-25 is that because there is no good map?

I found that byte 23 bit 2 moves the drl's to the fog lights (if equipped)

Ok if the Pq-25 BCM is such a problem child, Does anyone know if anyone has replaced the Pq-25 with a PQ-35 BCM? I realize this will be a lot of work, but should in the future reduce the number of issues in making changes to this car.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a problem child but that's a Polo type of BCM rather than a Golf so functionality and tweaks are limited. I can't tell what model year this is (due to the heavily modified VIN) but it has to be a 2011+ Sedan. Since the JSW had a Golf PQ35 you could try to match driveline details, KESSY, remote fob/key part numbers, etc.. to source parts but:

1) The 19-CAN Gateway is integrated into that BCM. You would need the additional wiring to the BCM and a new 19 but stay tuned for the window comments.
2) Locating the proper BCM for compatibility with 05-Acc/Start Auth/KESSY in addition to the existing remotes/keys would be experimental.
3) Mk6 Golf vehicles use a 16-Steering wheel module and this car doesn't have one. That's the slip ring in addition to a bunch of wiring.
4) Mk6 Golf vehicles use diag capable door control modules (window motors) that aren't installed in this car. Again - a bunch of wiring, etc. because I don't think those 6R0s are going to communicate directly without a BCM to go through.

5) If you could make all of that happen the remotes would need to be matched on the dealer level and I don't think that would go smoothly with the wrong parts in the car.

So, if you really wanted to do this I think it would be easier to start with a crashed identical model year JSW TDI, DSG with KESSY to work with but it wouldn't be worth it IMO.

Its a 2015 Jetta SEL TDi, the other option is to help you guys develop a map of the PQ-25 if thats something you are interested in doing, I would be more than happy to help. Changing the BCM would be a last resort item for me.. lots of work.

just a quick question to clarify something for me, I was told, by the gentleman who did my cluster swap, that the keys are matched to the cluster and the kessy module, is this correct or incorrect?

Correct but the damn remotes won't function properly when the BCM is replaced

and that applies to both PQ25 and PQ35 controllers:

VW Golf (5K) Body Control Module
VW Jetta (16) Body Control Module

I haven't broke my 2012 Tiggy to confirm but based on feedback alone the touch handles and remotes will be inoperative with the new BCM until the keys are matched (or re-matched in this case) at the dealer.

Ok so anyway I am installing RoW Bi Xenons, AFS and level sensor this weekend... got all the parts except the bolts to hold the level sensor in, are there any caveats that I should be aware of?

Ok, I have it all installed, most everything is working, I am getting some DATABASE errors, I think I may have the CANBUS wires backwards, they both look the same to me.

When I clear the errors, the AFS module works.

Suggestions? could backwards CANBUS wires cause this? and why would it work if they are backwards, once I clear the errors?

Also I have AFS on 12v constant... could that be the problem?

You clearly don't have the EOL programming DTC and we only see that with retrofits. Where did you source this #55 module if you don't mind me asking?

I suspect 3rd party re-sellers aren't getting them through the normal channels, resulting in that no EOL DTC, unlike the VW/Audi dealer parts sources.

I'm pretty sure I was corrected in that mk6 xenon retrofit thread or a similar one with a VW Caddy on this topic. The older 2010-2012(ish) CAN protocol modules were constant powered to #55 but the newer UDS ones like this car should be switched instead. The actual power to the AFS slaves is another story so I'll baseline my 2012 Tiggy wiring diagram and report back. Don't hesitate to bump this back up if you hear crickets chirping.

I got it from a guy in Hong Kong, He has an eBay store http://stores.ebay.com/vagfarmer/ he did not have a install kit for the jetta but he built one for me with the correct module, we are currently refining his wiring kit..

Thats also where I got my RLS kit, it installed like butter and worked perfectly.

I'll move it to terminal 15 power when I get home to test, but I think thats it.

the afs is wild, I found myself swerving on the back roads just to watch the headlights move... kinda cool

Outstanding, that makes sense, I was hoping it was something simple like that. It didn't make sense for the canbus wires being backwards, but if the afs is awake and everything else is asleep, then it makes perfect sense, nothing else out there for it to talk to.
