Trying to understand what is involved in changing the comfort convenience module in a 2010 Passat CC.
As far as I can make out the immobiliser will need programming. Is this a job VCDS can do, or something else? Dealer only maybe?
If not will I require security codes for access to the old and new(used) ccm?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC, the immobilizer is part of that module in the CC and I thus I suspect it's going to need to be done at the dealer. :(

Thanks Uwe.
Would VW fit the new 3aa ccm to a 3c0 car? They might not be too keen on the idea.
It has been done without the dealer but finding out how is proving to be tricky!

Since you seem to be asking me directly, I'll tell you: I don't know.

I doubt it's really up to the dealer at this point; I expect it's more a question whether the servers back at the mothership would accept it.

I have had a response from a VW specialist saying they can transfer my old immo and key data from my original ccm to my new to me but used 3aa ccm. I will need to send both ccms and keys for the transfer.
They also said I would need to change the VIN on the 3aa ccm when I fit it with VCDS to match my car.
Is this possible with my VCDS? If so how do I go about it?

Can anyone from Ross-Tech help with adding my VIN to a new CCM?
Thanks in advance.

Per our conversation in the CAN GW thread, we do not have a 25/46 module replacement procedure:

VW Passat (3C) Immobilizer

I do not have any personal experience with this type of modification but I highly doubt a used/reprogrammed/tweaked 3AA series 25/46 controller is going to behave in a car that was born with another series. If you haven't done so already you may want to check the ESCL part numbers using PartsLink24 to see if those are the same (or not).

I checked the ESCL part number and it appears to be the same. I guess I'll have to try it and hope for the best...
