Well sure............ I'm just saying for all the bad press, they sure have had no problem writing the checks & the stock has just gone crazy!
I would of expected it to get eaten alive but it didn't........

Oops.

On the other hand, motorcycles make an utterly negligible contribution to air pollution. Now their contribution to noise pollution is a totally different story. Someone should go after HD for all the infernal open pipes they sell -- and install on brand-new bikes before they ever leave the showroom.

BERLIN — Germany's transport ministry confirmed a media report on Monday that the KBA automotive watchdog detected illicit emission-control software in Audi's latest diesel models and ordered a recall of the vehicles.
Some 127,000 vehicles from Audi, a unit of Volkswagen, designed to meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standards are affected worldwide, including 77,600 vehicles are registered in Germany, a spokeswoman for the German transport ministry said.
Newspaper Bild am Sonntag reported that road transport authority KBA had told Audi to respond by Feb. 2 on how it plans to update vehicle software controlling emissions, making sure the cars are unable to illegally manipulate emission controls.
Audi said in a statement on Sunday that the models had been included in a voluntary recall of 850,000 diesel vehicles with V6 and V8 TDI engines announced in July.

Germany's federal transport authority has discovered new cheat devices on Audi's diesel engines.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water – German authorities have confirmed reports that emissions cheat devices have been found on Euro 6-compatible Audi diesel engines.
It is believed that the devices have been found on the Volkswagen Group’s 3-liter TDI common rail unit, available in a large proportion of the Audi range.
A recall has now been issued for the engines affected – 77,600 of them in Germany and a total of 127,000 worldwide.

The KBA, Germany’s federal transport authority, has threatened to withdraw type approval for the latest version of the A8sedan, but the recall affects a much wider range of cars, including the A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8 ranges as well as the Q5 and Q7 SUVs.
Experts from the KBA found that the cars' engine management systems turn off emissions-reducing measures in real-world traffic while allowing them to work on a test bench. Last month Audi disbanded its internal group set up to investigate Dieselgate, clearly having decided the matter was done with.
The latest revelation has brought criticism from legal campaigners seeking to challenge the company in court. Gareth Pope from solicitors Slater and Gordon, who is leading legal actions against Volkswagen on behalf of more than 45,000 VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda owners in the UK, said: "It’s clear that the emissions scandal that has engulfed the car industry could be far greater than many customers thought and VW previously admitted to.
"So far more than 1.2 million owners are eligible to join our 45,000 clients who have already signed up to take legal action against VW for installing cheat devices on their cars. But now this recall, which affects another engine type to the one we are bringing claims in relation to, raises the prospect that even post-Dieselgate, car manufacturers may be continuing to dupe customers by installing illegal software that cheats emissions testing."

Netflix's Dirty Money episode 1 - Hard NOx is well worth a watch. I watched it Friday night and it's very well produced and narrated. It's mainly focused on the US viewpoint. It does go into the European side and explains that regulations are set at European level but enforcement is at country level - hence why there has been little movement here. European regulations also state that a car can alter its emissions in certain circumstances, one being to protect the engine...

Watch it if you get the chance.
