the shot was 100 yards. There were what I thought were two does... one was eyeballing me straight on - not a good shot. The second turned broadside and I fired for the lung.. caught a shoulder too.. dang.. messed up some meat.
As I told my cousin on FB, we have learned much on this trip. Andy, Sage and I all got our first bucks. I have been trying for a deer for over 10 years now. It's nice to bring one home. Andy has tried his hand several times in the last 10 years but he too has drawn up empty. Sage, out for his first ever, had success. How awesome is that?
We did a lot of homework this summer and fall. We've been studying movements as this thread attests. We applied what we knew.
Now the king buck is still out here we think. We have a couple more days. We might just get lucky!
