Looks almost like you're spot-lighting that poor thing.

Oh, and he looks kinda skinny. I can practically count his ribs.

Continuing the trend, all we got on this shot was the rack... what happened to the rest of the deer? I can't be sure but this big guy could be a 10 poiinter! (TreeStand 4)

Just before big guy got there, 2 does came into view, got spooked, and then booked right up the trail we cut for us to get from the house to tree stand 4. Last shot, you have to look for the blur to the right of the photo to see them bolting away...

For those following this thread, I finally had a moment to look through the photos from Tree Stand 1 and found several more sightings. Deer, Tiguans and Turkeys!

Check out the album:

Bruce: the "critters" down here don't look anywhere near as cute (or as proud) as the ones that live in your neck-of-the woods- our critters (Macropus rufus) look like really large rodents!
Don

PS: and our forests aren't as lush as yours (entirely different shades of green - shades of grey really)

Awesome... I do want to get down to visit your lands! Been invited but have not had opportunity. Hope to get there one day.

Bruce: I'm reminded of a couple of sage old adages (both in the ancient Italian language);Carp diem & tempus fugit. So, my advice (since life is way too short) - make sure that your passport is in order, make sure that you allow plenty of time and just hop-on a plane (it's only a 24 hr flight)! We desperately need your American tourist dollars and at the current exchange rate (our "Pacific peso" has just fallen like a lead balloon), you probably only need to bring the amount that you would normally spend at McDonalds (I understand that this is the favoured eating venue for folk in your part of the globe)!

Don

PS: if you ever get way down here in the very South of Australia, I'd would be honoured to shout you a glass (or two) of cold Aussie ale. My only requirement in recompense is a long conversation - about anything that you want except ODBII stuff!

The October addition to this thread has some surprises! First, my cousins came to visit! Second, I forgot they object, like the Amish, to having their photos taken for portraits. Look carefully how serious they took this!

Are you sure these are brothers? Looks like they discovered a peeping tom in the snuggle nook:

you and my brother-in-law both had the same perversion.. if you look at the photos in context, you see that it is the camera angle that has issues....

I am convinced that since all bears seen by the camera did not like it, they must sense the IR flash. Why else would they go for the camera?

BeartheBruce has re-calibrated the camera! Let's see what happens between now and Nov 14!

Now that's what we are talking about...

Note the date... in October, he did not show.

So you know the expression "being in the right place at the wrong time"? Here's treestand #4 this morning 5 minutes before I arrived (and 3 minutes before it would have been legal at sunrise minus 30 minutes or 6:58-30=6:28):

Here am I coming in clueless 5 minutes later:

I never knew that buck was there until back at the cabin reviewing treestand pictures just now. BTW, times are 1 hour off due to DST.
