#1 What concerns me is that the reported LHS figures are very accurate and the RHS figures are well out. & all figures show the car as lower than stock. I bought the car 2nd hand but the suspension looks stock. here is the screen from :

To answer your question why I am unhappy with the handling:
I currently compete in Tarmac Rallys (usually on alpine roads) in my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X RS. This car has AWD and an active centre diff. We have had a fair degree of success with it. The TT RS has become eligible in our competition and they are clearly a faster car. So I bought this 2010 TT RS 6MT with 21,000klm.
It's a very nice road car but before I commit to a big spend to make it a competition car, I work through a testing process at a local race track. I'm not looking for ultimate race track setup. This track has a very good combination of different corner types and I can data log the laps and see the cars behaviour compared to my EVO by overlaying laps from each car, so it's real data not seat of the pants feel.
A rally car will always have a softer setup to cope with less than perfect road surfaces and changing weather conditions. What I can do at the track is drive at speeds and close to the limits that I could never do on a public road.
Wheels & tyres?
On the road it has the stock 19x9 wheels with 265/35/19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. At the track I run a set of 18x9 wheels with Yokohama Advan AO50 Medium compound semi slick tyres. I don't think these are available in many countries but they are a very good tyre for tarmac rally. Compared to a Dunlop Direzza 03G semi slick, they are somewhere between an M2 & an R2 compound. Much more grippy and well behaved than a road tyre and very short life.
Alignment:
It had an alignment 3 months ago and was supposed to be set to Front: Max negative camber -1.2 deg, zero toe-in. Rear: -1.5 neg camber, 1mm toe in (I later found the rear toe was wrong and it had 4.1mm toe in)
It's just had a new alignment and it now Front: camber -1.2 deg Negative, 7.1 deg caster, zero toe-in. Rear: -1.5 neg camber, 1mm toe in
I did my first test day on stock anti-roll bars and then fitted H&R bars that have soft & hard link positions.
Haldex:
The car had the stock Haldex and I kept on getting codes relating to controller or clutch failure. I installed a competition controller (the single mode one) from HPA and while it didn't help lap times much, the car was much nicer to drive. More composed under brakes and much more settled when I have to upshift mid-corner.
Problem:
What I never experienced on the road but did when i was driving at a higher level at the track was the very bad power-on corner exit understeer. Note that this is not corner entry understeer. i am doing what I think is the right thing, the slow in fast out method and the car has no problem turning in to the apex. it has a serious understeer problem when, having reached the apex, I try to power out of the corner. With the stock bars this was a case of back off or you will hit the wall. With the H&R bars it is much better but it's still a problem. In a rally, if I arrive at a corner too fast because I have listened to the note call properly, I might have understeer and be looking at the big tree I will hit. In the EVO, I can chuck it in and manage things with the throttle.
One further bit of info: I'm no youngster. I'll be 67 next week. :-)
My next track day in three weeks will be with a custom set of MSS stacked rear springs with height adjustment like coilovers. The overall spring rates will be harder than stock.
