    airbag crash data

    Hi can the vcds delete crash data on moduals and how would i upgrade maps on a rns 510 do i have to upgrade firmware too??

    If the Airbag light is on because of a fault detected by the module; and the fault is subsequently corrected, VCDS can clear the fault and therefore extinguish the light. If, however, you mean the genuine 'Crash Data Stored' error code after an 'incident' - then no, it can't.

    It really depends on the airbag module and the type of crash data it had. On order modules, the module itself will not allo "Crash Data Stored" to be cleared. On newer modules, it may, depending on the nature of the crash. There's no harm in trying. If it clears using a conventional, well-behaved tool like VCDS, it should be OK to re-use the module. If it won't clear, the module should be replaced.

    The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.
