99 passat v6 can't get throttle body align

trying to help a friend he put a new tb on
car will run rough of course i cannot get vagcom to
do the alignment on basic settings block 98 car has throttle cable
i get voltage on the first 2 blocks the says invalid cannot preform adaption
i erased codes first tried several times

new battery loses charge when sitting is there a problematic relay in this model
im familiar with tdi s 109 relay issue and wonder if this gasser
have a bad relay

Clear fault codes just before doing the Basic Setting. Check for fault codes again immediately after it fails; if it fails, it should set a fault code telling you why.
