2006 Audi A4 Cabriolet Radio Problems Bose Symphony II

My steering wheel radio controls stopped working, I turned off back on, it worked fine.

Next day my wife drove it, and it stopped and she couldn't get it to work, but the controls on the head unit wouldn't work either. Turning off car or radio didn't work.

I just scanned it, and here are my faults:

Looks to me like the radio is in its deathbed. You can try cold-booting it, but I doubt that's going to fix it.

So I was finally able to get the radio out, and look what I found.

As I understand those are the CAN BUS wires.

So, I am trying to figure out why someone would tap the two CAN wires ???

Well, one could passively listen to the messages on the Infotainment CAN, or one could inject new messages, to display stuff in the cluster that it wouldn't normally display. I think there have been a few third-party products made for Audis that do this.
