I installed the Traction Control Retrofit Kit from ECS Tuning (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/ES2660879/ES2660879/) in my wife's 2014 VW Jetta SE (1.8T, Tiptronic, Keyless Start, NAR) with a manufacture date of January 2014. It is supposed to work "out of the box" (i.e., no coding required), but it does not. It appears that VWoA may have changed something recently (others have posted on VWVortex that the kit works on NAR 2014 Jetta's with the 1.8T).
So I pulled out the connection from "Pin 8" of the ABS module, tightened the pin (it appeared to be spread slightly), and re-installed -- same results (i.e., 12.5-13V at "Pin 8" in the ABS connector when switch depressed, 0 volts when released, and no indication in the instrument cluster once the harness in reconnected). Next I tried a test drive on a sandy dirt road, which verified 1000%, no doubt that the switch did NOT disable the traction control.
Now, for something a little more interesting that proves that the switch is wired properly, and the voltage is being sensed by the ABS module. I connected the VACDS, and navigated as follows:
The Advanced Measuring Values are selected as follows:
When the ASR/ESP Button is NOT depressed, the value shows "Not Oper." -- the ABS and ASR/ESR values fluctuate as the lights flash (i.e., because the ABS controller module is open by VAG-COM):
When the ASR/ESP Button is depressed, the vaule changes to "Activated", proving that the ABS module correctly detects sufficient voltage on "Pin 8":
This leads me to believe that there is now coding that must be done in order to enable the functionality in my vehicle . Unfortunately (but understandably), the long coding helper does not provide a lot of help for the ABS module.
