I have a new to me 04' TDI Jetta Wagon. My parents gave it to me (I'm not a kid, however). I bought the KII vagcom. They said they brought it to their trusted mechanic due to a diagnosis light that came one. The mechanic said the steering angle sensor/clock spring went (162K miles). I decided to try and clean the connectors on the clock spring/angle sensor with Deoxit just to see if that MIGHT help, as well as reset the sensor. It did not work (expectedly). I found a used OEM ESP (the one I need) equipped one on Ebay from a seller that has a 14 day return policy. Since it was so easy to get to it, I figured it was worth the try on a used one.

I am trying to attach pics (photo bucket links) of what the screen said when trying to recalibrate it. It seems to not of let me do it because the sensor failed?

Your pictures are so fuzzy I'm not 100% certain which ABS you have. It's really easy to make screen shots in Windows. Alt + PrintScreen grabs a bitmap of the currently active window and stuffs it into the Windows Clipboard, from where you can paste it into numerous apps, or even directly into a browser window pointed at Imgur.com.

Assuming you have what I think you have, take a look in the ABS, MBV 004, field one. Turn the wheel from side to side. What happens?

Hello,

- Did you happen follow the procedure that we have in the Ross-Tech wiki pages?

Basic Setting - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85)

If you could also please post a complete Auto-Scan, this may shed some light on your concerns,

Thank you,

drpeter

Hi, yes I used the ross-wiki instructions. I', not sure if I can do a screen shot. I have a Winbook TW800 tablet with window 8.1 (I think, 8 or 8.1???). When I am outside in the car, I have no wifi. So can you do a screen shot and then come inside to the wifi zone and post it?

I can take better pictures.

One confusing thing for me in the instructions was when it says "activate the basic setting" option. Activate it how, where? By means of selecting the "Adjustment of Steering Sensor" in drop down? If so, I tried and then hit the dead end as posted above.

I'll try the complete auto scan. How do I do that? Sorry. newbie here.

Sure you can. Alt + PrintScreen, then Paste into the application of your choice. I like Irfanview, but MS Paint (comes with Windows) will do. In either case, save the file in .PNG format (it's the best format for screen-shots), then upload at your leisure when you have Internet access.

I'll try the complete auto scan. How do I do that? Sorry. newbie here.
Please see this thread.

Hi Uwe, where is the print screen button? I have a tablet remember. I have a virtual keyboard, but don't remember seeing a "print screen" button.

- You may need to attach a USB keyboard to 'PrtScn' (Print Screen)

- The [On/Off/Next] button on the Basic Settings screen, you press it, will 'Activate the Basic Settings'.

- Sorry about that, forgot to add that 'How-to' link ;)

- and I intended to add this link too... Basic Setting - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85)

From the Screen pic, I see [1C0-907-37x-ESP-F.lbl] - That is the MK60, so the above wiki page should apply.

Oh, missed the fact that this is a tablet. If the virtual, on-screen keyboard your hardware vendor installed as the default doesn't support PrintScreen, launch Microsoft's own-- OSK.exe -- I just did that on a Dell Venue 8 Pro running Windows 8.1 and that keyboard has a PrtScn "key".

Laptops are a bit strange from desktop computers. My Samsung you have to press Fn+Alt+Insert/Prt Sc then open Paint up and paste it in Ctrl+V. On my desktop you press Prt Sc and paste it straight in Paint.

Uwe-that computer talk is above my pay grade. The standard virtual keyboard it has does not look like the full one you have there. I'm not sure how to get that one (OSK.exe)?

It comes with Windows. Every version of Windows since XP (at least) has has OSK.exe.

I just have now idea how to use it.

Here is my autoscan.

Sidebar-What does the brake light switch code mean? When this was my dad's car, he had problems with the brake slight going out, seems the cheap designed rear lights had this circuit board like pattern that would come off the plastic base and lose contact. Maybe that's what that code is for?
