Hi, Using VCDS only:
is there any field or measuring blocks fields within this Module (46: Central Conv) something like a binary data or something that can tell the technician whether the latch or hinge or any hall effect device if any or switches of any kind, the state of being? how can I take the most of VCDS in this case.

Ok not sure what happen but when I latched the trunk with my finger to say it's closed it seamed to work. I then went out to the car and the battery was down again?? I don't get it, when I latched it I would set th alarm then after a couple minutes the Nav turned off then the lights with no battery drain. This is terrible!!!!!! I will check with the dealer but I know I checked before and they said there was nothing open. And no my friend I'm not the original owner. I'm so close to wrapping this thing around a tree lol. If I have the dealer do it then I will pay more than the cars worth I'm sure. The dealer around here wants to start me at $250.00 just to scan the car when all I asked is if they could remove the CP on my sound system. He said my tech said he would have to scan the car it's bs!!!! I need to find a friend that knows audi for real. I'm trying to get this car taking care of before July 1st because the wife is going in for brain surgery and I need the car to be reliable

$250 isn't unreasonable to take a look with a scan and the first hour.

It takes time to research this stuff and time is unfortunately money.

I make the customer start at $300 In my shop to Scan, Preform readiness, and the first hour or $1000 USD for an itemized estimate still with these fees. added.
$2500 USD commitment if the car is older then 10 years and not in my care already.
If car is modified, I start at $500 USD to include logs and additional backups I must make.

Consider what this car cost new.

Trunk latch's are a POS.
I bet maybe the wire in the flex area of the trunk harness of door is frayed.

Easy enough to take out or go in trunk and bypass using WD.

Inspect it ...........

Best way is to go to adv measuring blocks and look at labels or binary operations.
Use a second tech having them move one door at a time, while you watch the fields live.

When I get stuck doing this for undocumented channels I can't find, like above for a door/zone........ which is rare, I go to the meter and WD.

I have made it a routine to always review a WD, right after I scan with VCDS to familiarize myself with the tracks, and find the coded modules ref in DTC's.

When no access to a WD .......I get the tone generator out.

Well it seams to be intermittent problem. I'm thinking it's the central lock system. It would fall asleep sometimes when I opened the back left door and looked it manually then sometimes it doesn't. This is frustrating!!!

Remove wires at module or in this case maybe the trunk latch, and define the open or closed needed in blocks and tie or leave open based on what the module needs to see as always closed.

I often do this on hood switches and find that hood switches always take a dump.

Yeah but there weird part is it's not showing any indication that there is anything open on my cluster. I did notice that when the DVD Nav is on I'm get readings almost 7mma and when I pull the fuse everything shuts down and then I get a reading under 3ma. And all lights go out. After letting it sit a bit I notice there is no drop in my battery. What could that be?

Update! So I went to the dealer the scanned my car and fixed the component protection I have music!!! The tech also recoded the car for me to see if it would fix the battery drain also a car wash for only $147.00!!!! Yeah buddy.
The tech said he's pretty sure the navigation needs to be replaced for the battery drain?? Does this sound legit? I ask because the navigation works flawlessly it just don't turn off, as stated in a previous post when I pull the Nav fuse out the car goes to sleep and I have no battery drain. Any ideas on this?? Thanks

A nice update that's AWESOME!!! The car is fixed!!! The battery drain from the start was a software update. The main reason why there was still a battery drain after the software update was because the sound system was in component protection so the module wouldn't turn off. It's been sitting all day and the Amps are still strong!! We will see of course how the battery indicator is after and leave that as an update. I have read before even if there is no battery drain sometimes the battery regulator still records it as low. I'm a little nervous qbout this because of the battery coding being rejected. Yeah thanks for the help everyone and I hope this thread helps others.

After overnight the battery is still up good but the battery indicator is showing 10%? so of corse I'm getting a DTC on the battery regulator on vcds. Any ideas? Thanks

Probably due to incorrect code inserted of the battery in BDM.

Ultimately you may require a new battery with a correct code inserted.

Getting the correct Battery + coded and all the firmware updated is the start of correcting.

I have the correct varta battery installed only 4 months old directly from Audi so it should take the BEM and serial number but it doesn't. One time ago it finally accepted it but that was before the Mmi update. Also what firmware? The battery regulator firmware?? Thanks

I think you should take your car to the Audi dealer/qualified repair station.
You are grasping at straws, rationalizing becoming argumentative. and not reading repair information or TSB's.

"Core Control is aware of the problem......no more information is available at this time"

Please refrain from speculation and do actual tests or present testing data that is related to VCDS with questions if not understood.

I think this thread is done for me.

Take care and do self test........see if NAV is being powered from back feed by tracing WD.

Could this be a Nav issue? Thanks

I have been very busy and haven't been able to get this fixed yet. I purchased a loop and pluged it into every module in the sound system and car still doesn't go night night lol...
I let the car sit and let the battery drain down and did a rescan, here it is below...

I'm not sure but would this cause a car not to sleep? My driver side rear door has close assistance motor, passenger rear door does not! I'm not even sure a 2004 came with the option.

OK, I have a update somewhat... So I have been pulling my 30amp fuse in the boot so my car goes to sleep forever now still looking for the problem. I have a quick question, can the MMI screen itself keep the car from going NIGHT NIGHT? I ask because the other day I noticed the screen much darker then normal, I pressed on it and boom it brightened right up.
I have a extra screen sitting here but didn't want to go through the work installing the new screen if it would be a problem with the car going to sleep. To answer a head of time no the screen doesn't stay on after it folds down and car is of and no it hasn't gone dark sense. Thanks in advance I Appreciate all the help.
