    Your feeling is correct. There's K-line (KWP2000), normal CAN (TP2.0), CAN TP1.6, and UDS, all in the same car.

    The only thing it's missing is some Ur-VAG, KW1281.

    The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

    Out of interest, how can you tell what protocol a control module is using from the details in an Auto-Scan? Or can you not?

    To confirm what Uwe put in post #3, these are the protocols used by each of the controllers...

    Code:
    01-Engine -------------> KWP2000
    03-ABS Brakes ---------> UDS
    08-Auto HVAC ----------> CAN
    09-Cent. Elect. -------> CAN
    15-Airbags ------------> UDS
    17-Instruments --------> UDS
    19-CAN Gateway --------> CAN
    25-Immobilizer --------> UDS
    44-Steering Assist ----> TP 1.6-1281
    4B-Multifunc. Module --> CAN
    56-Radio --------------> CAN

    I can. But how is a trade secret, sorry.

    I guess that probably means an internal cross-referencing RT database of control modules / label files / rod files / protocols that you can just do a lookup on
