You are correct. I should have provided more details. A couple of days ago the remote would not unlock my doors. I had to use a key. Replaced a battery in the keyfob all seemed fine. Yesterday when I got into a car , headlights came on and the hazard blinkers when I tried to start the car. it started fine. This morning I could not unlock the car at all so I used the key to unlock my door. When I tried to start the car, the starter would turn the engine but it would not start. The lights and the radio came on too. I tried pulling the key out at that momement and it would not go back to the unlock position......

I ended up disconnecting the battery and after reconnecting all worked fine... I cleared the coded but the convenience module came back.


The car electrics have not been touched in 3 years. I have an after market radio thats been there about 3 years. A disabled fuel door that stopped working. I disconnected the fuel door lock motor. I noticed door locks sometimes make a grinding sounds but seem to work fine. Nothing else unusual.


One more thing I forgot to add: it also has aftermarket fog lights. I noticed that one has condensation in it.... Its not broken and works fine. The lights are about 3 years old.

Check all your ground points and tug connections...........check relays and battery static integrity.
Inspect for corrosion at 0x09..........
Fix the conditions and or isolate known AFT items.

This is hardly enough information to go on........and no real specific fault of a static complaint .

It's possible but so is corrosion..............or ignition switch.

interesting. I noticed that my ignition switch has been a bit loose. A key somewhat rattles in it. I will be checking all my grounds.. some of them are a bit difficult to get to.

is there a way to run diagnostics on Convenience (j393) module directly to see if its bad? I will be removing my radio also just to make sure nothing is shorting out there also... I noticed that my backup camera function disappeared.... maybe related to the convenience module issue or could be the cause.....
