After some long and drawn out work. I'm trying to recalibrate the level control system on my Egg. I did this after I rebuilt the front end, but after a battery replace, and a few other system gremlins being chased out, the calibration has been lost.

I've followed the process, scanned the car, cleared the codes, found a few fuses put in the wrong places. Yet when I get to the save page in VCDS the vehicle gives me an error.

The vehicle goes through the motions of up and down. I'm sitting outside the vehicle so no open doors. The only code being thrown for the level control system is not calibrated.

Is there a hard reset, that needs to be done prior to going into the calibration mode?

You mentioned, you did some work on the front end. I've seen the level sensors installed incorrectly many times. You might want to double check that. Maybe read relevamt MVBs and post it here.

At which "Save" page are you getting an error? You're supposed to put actual measured heights as new values into Adaptation Channels 01 to 04, and then an 01 as the new value into channel 05. How far are you getting with this? What are the measured values you're putting into channels 01 - 04?

I agree with Andy. Let's see the measuring values. Easiest way is to run a map.

Andy,
I know the level sensors are installed correctly. As I did them prior to the front end rebuild, I was able to calibrate the ride height system after the rebuild. It was after I started into a gremlin chasing exercise that I replaced the batteries and a few other modules in the rear of the vehicle and lost the ride calibration during this process. You can see I still need to set the steering angle sensor, just haven't got to that just yet.

- If you have entered the above values and the controller refuses or gives an error on the last adaptation, ch.05, this typically means one of the ride height values is just out of spec.

Based on the VIN number and the PR-code [1BK] the specified ride height values should be:

1BK:
Front = [497mm +/-3mm] - (494mm to 500mm)
Rear = [502mm +/- 3mm] - (499mm to 505mm)

Try to enter the values again, this time stay within 3mm of the of the specified ride height values and then see if adaptation ch.05 saves correctly.

Each time you try basic settings, turn the ignition off for 15 seconds. Peter means to enter values that are within the range. Front is OK but rear enter 500. Then you will repeat the adaptation again. One more thing, set both switches on the center console to AUTO.

In this last process, I let VCDS sit on each channel a while, I saw that channel 01 (front left) would indicate a valid entry (new value and test), but then occasionally flash invalid (in green and very quickly) then back to valid. All other channels 02-04 do not do this. This makes me think a bad or marginal sensor.

Possible, plug might be corroded, how about unplugging it / plugging it back a couple of times. Maybe spray some WD-40 to remove moisture?

The system allowed me to calibrate it and accept the values added. 497 fronts and 500 rears. The only real change was that I put BOTH level switches on the console in AUTO.

The only thing different was the console switches both set to AUTO. I did nothing different in my procedures. So this may want to be noted in the wiki.

Yeah, the da book saz put both of them on AUTO and you put 500 like Peter said. Glad U got it.:D Now drive it for a day or two and try to adopt again putting the real values in.
