Hi all,

Just got my VCDS Mobile. Im a new user. Learning.

Being able to see VCDS and data log on my iphone is pretty awesome.

But its hard to read like 'gauges'.

Is there any way to get the Dongle to work with my Dash Commander app, to see some engine data in a gauge-like readable format while driving?

Thanks

No worries. I would still buy the Ross Tech dongle regardless. It is the most important.

I am trying to have a way to use my iphone mounted on my windshield holder to view gauge-like important info that I can see and interpret easily while driving at a glance.

I will be doing a full custom gauge and cluster setup on my T3 bus at some point, and then I can use proper gauges.

For now I just need to watch

Boost
IAT
Water Temp
Load

What are the block codes for those (I know boost can be seen on 011)?

Can I get the software to show me atmosphere corrected psi, as a boost gauge would?

Any tips to set up the VCDS mobile to view those things in the best way would be helpful.

Danke

Is it possible to have a dumb K / L Line (with all the variations) mode in VCDS, in the future, for some other apps?

Sounds like you have a TDI. Which one? How about some actual scan data? ;)

Nope, it shows you the data as the ECU presents it, typically absolute manifold pressure. Think about it this way: Your engine doesn't really care what atmospheric pressure is, or how much "boost" above atmospheric you're getting; it really only cares about the pressure in the manifold.

What would you try to do with this? We still have a dumb K/L line "pass through" mode on our KII and HEX+CAN interfaces, but I can't think of anything that's been developed for it in the last 5+ years.

You right, I was thinking about the old Eprommer and software based on ELM chips, maybe PassThru J2534. There is an generic OBD2 app in VCDS (which I use often, mostly for fuel trims). Not too much exciting VAG software (excluding VCDS :D, of course) out there. Maybe, some EEPROM reading / writing functions might be incorporated in the future but that's up to the boss, of course.

Have you tried creating one or more gauges with the built in functionality in VCDS-Mobile?

That is very cool and also might be very useful in diagnosing when you don't want to drag the laptop with you.

Sorry, been offline camping for a few days.

Yup, 1Z TDI w 1999 Passat ECU
038 906 018 GA

There's no label file for it so can't see exactly what im looking at or do advanced measuring in VCDS PC.

But I found what I needed. 007 is IAT and COOLANT.

This is EXACTLY what I want! How can I do this in VCDS mobile on my iPhone ?

There is no tutorial that I can find on the site or in the forums on how to use the "built in functionality" of gauges as appear in your photo. Would love to know how.

[Select] -> Whatever control module
[Functions]
[Live Data HUD]
[Create New]
Click on the type of gadget you want (some have different sizes)
Drag one onto the virtual display
You then need to configure it, including setting a measuring value.
Save it.
Once you've saved it, you'll have a button for it on the Live Data HUD screen.
