2004 Audi A8 problems on where to start PLEASE

Ok the major thing I would love to fix is my cluster. It reads in kilometers not miles I mean everything like miles until empty, every number even mileage. I looked in the Mmi and it was set to English and set to miles not km. I opened up immobilize I believe its called and made sure the code was 2 for usa and still doesn't change it. Thanks

I would start by just unplugging the module and unchecking 75 in the Gateway Installation List. Then see if the car is OK with that. I *think* it should be, but I'm not certain.

Given that it does diagnostics via K-Line, I can't doubt that module being part of the MMI's MOST ring, but again, I'm not certain.

so as for the level control sensor error that's tied into my headlight rage problem golf said something about the sensor seems to be reading fine. I guess I would agree because my cat goes up and down just fine but not sure what is the next step for that fault??

Ok After understanding the coding placement I went into tire Pressure #65 just to take a look and notice the coding numbers for the front Axles are coded with different numbers and I read somewhere that they needed to match i'm not sure. I will put up a new scan and I'll also will post a adaptation of Module 61 and see what you think thanks..

Note the values stated for the 3rd digit from the right. That digit in your coding is a '0', meaning the cluster is coded for Germany, where they use km, not miles. Change that digit to value for a country that uses miles.

Uwe was wondering are my front struts suppose to be at the Same height? I ask because I went to #65 and noticed that the coding numbers for height where different? Could this be the reason I'm having the fault code with my level control and headlight range? Golf mentioned he doesn't think its the sensor. Any idea?? Thanks I did put a scan up for it.

I'm with Uwe... not quite sure what you're referring to. The controller channel map you posted is indeed from your TPMS controller, which is indeed at address 65. You don't have anything at all at address 66. Your TPMS controller has no idea of the car's level, so far as I know. I paged through your channel map... looks like the same Beru system I have on my car. It's got no idea how your suspension is set up. I also checked the coding table in the label file to make sure. The coding basically just specifies the transmitter frequency and the minimum acceptable tire pressures for this vehicle, nothing about suspension height.

In case you're interested, it appears the system used to see four TPMS sensors -- it has four memorized sensor IDs -- but none of them have been seen recently. There was apparently no TPMS sensor in the spare. They're most likely dead or missing. I didn't really go through the entire thread of history so I'm not sure if you were looking into this or already aware of it.

I think there may have been some confusion. Your air suspension leveling system (address 34) has nothing to do with your tire-pressure monitoring system (address 65). Your suspension level controller monitors and adjusts your car's height, and forwards a copy of that data on to the headlight leveling controller so it can tweak headlight aim depending on the live chassis height and tilt angle. Your front left suspension level sensor is inoperative or the wiring to it is damaged, and that's the fault you see in address 34. So, it can't pass on the proper data to the headlight leveling controller, so it's not ready to be calibrated and start working.

The sensor you're looking for isn't on the tire/wheel. It'll be on one of the suspension control arms. I couldn't find a picture of an A8 sensor easily, but I found an A6 sensor. That's something like what you're looking for, but it might look different or be installed in a slightly different position.

ok so you suggest I replace the left level sensor? I cleaned the wiring on the sensor and also the sensor itself. I could find out where to clean the other end though. You think it's a good idea to replace this sensor? If so that's the move I'll make and then recalibrate the suspension.
My only question is when I go and do the headlight adjustment everything works but it also says adjust not possible in the fields. I could post a picture of this error in VCDS if that would be easier. I'm afraid of replacing the level sensor and still having the problems. I'm concerned because my cars suspension goes up and down without any problems. Thanks for the help.

Well, "Electrical Fault in Circuit" could be a bad sensor, and replacing the sensor is one way to engage in the process of elimination that's usually involved in trouble-shooting, but since it involves spending money on a part without being reasonably confident that the part is bad, it's usually not the recommended course until all the other possibilities for that circuit have been eliminated using a multimeter at least.

On a 2004 car, the original sensors are virtually guaranteed to be shot. What kind of valve stems are on your rims? Are they metal or rubber?

Since the only thing your headlight range module is complaining about is "Headlights Not Adjusted", I don't think so.
