Intake Air Temp. Sensor (G42) is in the mass I believe. But not positive on the BDF 24 valve though?
If you cleared codes and this returned I believe only way is new mass.

8.6 % Adaptation (Partial) Bank 1 Sensor 1

Under load (driving) it's lean a little 5% is perfect.
10% is okay by some info. But I am with Jeff in my car 8.6% just won't do... But we are tech's and picky. Real picky with are own cars!!!!

Good Luck

Thank you,

about 15 miles after posting the last codes the CEL shut off. Have about 20 miles with it off now. I'll keep going and see if they return. I may read them tonight to see what they are now with it off.

I would really check the spring tension of the MAF connectors and apply stablient 22A or a good contact enhancer.
Maybe tweak with dental pick.

Still lean a little check for small Vac. leak or bad mass.

while driving or under load 10.2% is a little high but with no light is okay.

Component: MOTRONIC ME7.1.1G01 0005

I think software should be updated to 0006 at least.
Do you have a warm restart stall? Or a low idle after a warm restart? If so update should fix it.

Ask Jack about that he knows more on this.

Good luck

I will still hunt for a vacuum leak, especially on the Combi line...when I can get the time to pull the front.

I do occasionally have an issue where the idle is low or it stalls out during a warm restart. How do I go about upgrading the software? Jack is just a little out of my way :) Replacing the ECU sounds a bit expensive

You don't need a new ECU just the software inside it needs to be updated to current level.

You can try and looking in your area but not many people can do it right. Dealer can but is like pulling teeth!
It hurts and they are a pain to deal with! At least my local dealer is!

You can pull the ECU and ship it to Jack the turn around is a few days.
I have sent him a few because the dealer here sucks! He does them the same way official V.W. updates.
The time and tools he has to buy are not cheap. Jack is Jack. You love him or hate him... But he's good and does it right!
Jack spends a lot of time helping others for free with advice. So I try to give back, if I need an update he deserves the work and he's earned it!

Good Luck

HI,

I've been busy and the weather hasn't really cooperated for taking the car apart, So I still haven't looked for any leaks. The CEL is still out and the car passed inspection.

I will have to look around here for a dealer that may upgrade the software. Sending the ECU to Jack would be a little tough as this is my daily driver and it would take some planning in order to send it to him.

I really can't say all the dealer are this way. All I know is my local dealer doesn't know what they are doing or they just lie to get you out the door.
If you do go to your local dealer please post the results it my post. Thanks.

I will be sending it out to Jack as soon as the customer can come off the car for a few days. The UPS turn around is a few days.

Good Luck
