Hello, all! My father bought this automobile about ten years ago. Last fall he noticed that the engine would rev up without a corresponding increase of vehicle speed. He parked it and bought a nice low mileage 2014 Jetta, also a TDI. A few months back my son turned 16 and got his driver's license that same day. His grandpa gave him the 2006 Beetle for a birthday present. On the condition that I fix it! The first thing that I did was replace the fluid and filter. The oil was very clean, no chunks of metal in it. The filter looked good too. On the first test drive, I noticed that the slippage (really an abrupt shift to neutral) was accompanied by the ABS light coming on. I have some experience with mechanical drives, having been a John Deere Ag mechanic for about eight years, I did all of the 8000 series transmission updates and repairs. Before that I repaired automobiles and light trucks, and overhauled about 15 automatic transmissions during my career in that field. So I decided to search for a VW diagnostics program and found Ross Tech. I ordered the shade tree mechanic level and bought a Dell laptop for $80 to load it on. I am very impressed with the ease of the software installation, and my scan went well. I am posting it here, hoping that you experienced VW techs can please point me in the right direction. Before I act on my gut feelings (some kind of slipping clutch) and tear into it, I would really like to make sure that it is not something simple like a failed sensor or a broken wire. Here is my autoscan To me, none of the codes look like they relate to a powertrain issue. Thank you!

Oh, and one more thing. Somehow I stuck my first password onto my name. How can I remove that?

To me, none of the codes look like they relate to a powertrain issue.
Well, you've got a bunch of engine codes, and the engine is part of the powertrain, but no transmission codes.

What you do have is a DSG with 200,000 miles on it. Given that this is a computer-controlled mechanical transmission, if it's "slipping" it probably needs the clutches replaced. There are two clutches. One for 1st, 3rd, and 5th, the other for 2nd, 4th, and 6th. You should probably find the SSP for that transmission and familiarize yourself with how it works, because it's not at all a conventional automatic.

Oh, and one more thing. Somehow I stuck my first password onto my name. How can I remove that?
I've trimmed your username.
