I'm working on a 2003 A4 1.8 AMB and getting the Redir Fail! for the engine controller. I believe the car is completely stock so this doesn't make any sense to me. Pretty sure the label file that should be loading is 06B-909-518-AMB.lbl. I did verify that this file is present in the label directory of the program. Thank you.

Weird. It a cursory look a the VCDS-Lite Label folder also makes me think it should load 06B-909-518-AMB.lbl for your ECU. 8E-01.lbl tells it to and the file does exist.

Try renaming 06B-909-518-AMB.lbl to 8E0-909-518-AF.lbl and let us know what happens.

That worked. It loaded the new label file and the measuring blocks now have correct labels. Thank you.

After noticing that the other controllers had label files that matched the controller numbers exactly, I wondered if renaming that file to the engine controller would work, but I don't have a great deal of experience with the program so I was chicken to try it.

Thanks again.

I believe this bug was fixed in newer versions, likely not for VCDS-Lite though. From my vague recollection it boils down to the redirected file name to be too long.

Having the same issue with a different engine. Have a TDI, the controller where the redirect fails is "038 906 012 GN"

Well, the work-around for that is easy enough: Just rename the relevant file to your ECM's exact part number. In other words 038-906-012-AGR.LBL becomes 038-906-012-GN.LBL

ok, so I am now confused, different car, but the same Redirect Fail - any hints as to what to do?

I licensed VCDS Lite so I could look at the data for my daughter's Audi TT Quattro, 2001. When I try to use the measuring blocks capability, I get Label File: Redir Fail, as shown below. please see captured autoscan fragment below. What am I doing wrong? without labels, the software guesses at measuring blocks, but that doesn't really help much, I just want to look at the two lambda sensors and verify that the cat is bad, or something else is bad - and I can't find any info on which block is which sensor.

Any hints? ideas?? is there a file for the TT Quattro somewhere that would help me?

Hmm... Looks like the correct file for that engine is 06A-906-032-AMU.lbl. What's puzzling is that the an appropriate redirect exists in 8N-01.lbl.

Try renaming 06A-906-032-AMU.lbl to 8N0-906-018-T.lbl.

ok, I made a copy of the file and named it as you suggested. I'll have to wait until my daughter brings her car over again to find out if it works or not. meanwhile, how did you know what file was supposed to go with that specific car? and would one draw any inference from my controller ID being so different - I know the controller has not been changed since she's owned the car (e.g. since 2004 or so) and I doubt it was changed early in its life.

Thanks - sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in a Grateful Dead song .... "what a long strange trip it's been".

I guess, if the LBL file is correct, I'll want to look at blocks 41, 43, and 46.
