Hi and greetings from Sydney Australia.
Just got a new HEX V2 so I want to introduce myself and 'Claudia', my 2001 Audi A4 (B5 8D) 1.8T / APU Engine. For several weeks, she's been running poorly, and stuttering both on acceleration and cruising. My first thought was a vacuum leak and I did find a cracked check valve, and the diverter valve was kaput, but this didn't help. A local workshop (also using VCDS) found an O2 sensor alarm - a new sensor cleared the fault but not the performance issue. At this point I got my own VCDS and started playing. Groups 002 and 032/033 are pointing me toward a bad MAF...002 readings are in spec at idle, but low gr/s when driving (fluctuating between 5 - 14 at around 2000rpm, and 17 - 24 around 4000rpm); Group 032 fuel trim is indicating +2.8% (add) & +14 to +25% (mult). I gave the MAF a thorough spray with CRC MAF cleaner, but still no better. To seal the deal, I disconnected the MAF, and the stationary throttle/rpm response in Neutral was now linear (no stuttering around 2000rpm) but stuttered again with the MAF back in play. So I've ordered a new MAF, and fingers crossed, it'll sort my issues.
What puzzles me though, is that my Auto Scan didn't show any error codes to this effect. Is this normal? To be fair, I'm new to this code scanning (more of your ol' school socket and wrench mechanical fault finder) so I may not have set up the scan correctly. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Anyway, really excited about playing with my new Ross-Tech tool, and learning more about the car. Below is my Auto Scan.
Cheers, Stephen.

Thanks Uwe. That's a great Fuel Trim write up.
Sorry, I should have been more specific. Those low Group 32 readings I got was using the 'foot to the floor' method, but unfortunately I could only get up to 3960 rpm at best, trying both 2nd and 3rd gears. Hopefully, my new MAF should arrive this week and then I'll put it all back together to get running, and know one way or the other if that was the problem. Anyway, the car has over 300,000 km on her and, to my knowledge, hadn't had the MAF replaced, so definitely got it's moneys worth.
I like the idea of the Group 115 checks, so I'll be sure to check that out as well. Thanks for your advice.
Cheers, Stephen

Hi, just a quick follow up. Put the new MAF sensor in and it fixed the issue straight away. She's running like a new car now!:D
So, it wasn't showing any MAF specific fault codes, but thanks to the Ross-Tech tool I was able to narrow it down to the MAF being the likely culprit. Thanks to all at Ross-Tech for developing such a great diagnostic tool, and I can only wonder why why why I didn't get one sooner!
Cheers,
Stephen
