2013 Volkswagen CC - Brake Alarm Comes on When Driving - Brakes Pulsate When Braking

My car starting having a weird braking issue. When I'm going down the road, an alarm sounds and the brake light comes on. When I attempt to start, the brakes make a hydraulic sound and pulsates. The brakes continue to with the same issue until the car is turned off. Once the car is turned off and back on, it apparently resets something. Sometimes it will go a mile before it does it again, sometimes ten miles. There are a multitude of other lights on the dash so I suspect it is a sensor/module. I've replaced the hubs and rear abs sensors so don't believe it's either of those. I've scanned it with a Ross-Tech scanner but it just shows fault codes, doesn't really narrow down the issue.

Based on the fault codes in the ABS module, the first think I would do is observe (and quite possibly log) the four wheel speeds in the ABS while driving slowly.

Thank you for the reply Uwe. Would that be an attempt to determine if it is the speed sensors or the module? If the module is bad, wouldn't that present itself by showing erroneous data to the sensors?

But if the module is OK and some sensors are OK then you'll know which sensors need changing.

Right, you are looking to rule out the module itself, wiring, WSS and wheel bearing since that's the pick-up for the WSS.

After evaluating the logged data from the sensors, and providing the RR is actually implausible, we would normally recommend swapping the wiring at the module (so the left and right rear are mirrored) but you have faults for both rears. That complicates things.

Since 03841 - RPM Sensor Rear Left: Incorrect Signal is most common when the wrong replacement WSS sensor part number is installed I would look for any signs of prior work in that area. I can't look up the part numbers very easily in the parts catalog without the VIN but there are often 4 possible sensors which are specific to VIN splits, FWD/AWD in addition to the installed park assist system. If the incorrect left rear sensor is installed that may directly explain Fault Frequency: 254.

Great information everyone, I really appreciate it. Can someone point me to the Wiki that would help me understand how to monitor the sensors while driving slowly? I found where it is not recommended (but if I'm going to do it make sure I have a second person with the laptop in the back seat), but couldn't find the procedure to actually monitor the sensors dynamically.

If I'm reading the scan correctly, it would appear it is the driver's rear sensor. I'm not sure why it showed both rear sensors. I replaced the driver's sensor but it apparently was a knock-off. Where's a good place to get the sensor?

Any VW dealer - it looks like the part you have may be a CRAP (Chinese Replacement Auto Part) one.
