Helpppppp,

Purchased this car for my wife, test drove ok. Took it home few days later it would shift from 1st to 3rd perfectly but then just stay in 3rd unless i put in neutral then back to D and it will shift rest of the gears.

I thought maybe changing the oil in the mechatronics and resetting the adaptations using Basic settings 060. What a big mistake it drives really well until about a kilometre, than she starts thumping through the gear changes. Checked faults and it came up with 006012 - Clutch 2 P177C - 003 - Tolerance limit reached and a 00470 - Company comfort databus in a single wire that was there previously and wont clear after numerous resets.

Have tried basic settings group 60 numerous times with no success, will drive fine till about a kilometre or so later during the adaptation test drive.

Is their any way of keeping the adaptation settings from the first kilometre of the drive? gear changes are fine after the group 60 reset but then moments later jerks and thumps in every gear. Have read in other posts possible worn clutches but wouldnt it be slipping if that was the case? Any way of increasing the tolerance in the clutches? is there anyone on the forum that can update the firmware remotely on the OAM gearbox for me? I'm happy to pay...

That's just edited sections of a VCDS Auto-Scan, please just post the complete unedited Auto-Scan (which you will find in C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Scans).

Hi PetrolDave, thanks for your message please view full scan:

Regarding tiptronic isnt it meant to display what gear you are in on the dash? when i place into tiptronic mode the PRNDS switches off. That fault probably explains why i can only go 1,2 but wont go up anymore, then place into D it changes though in tip tronic most of the time it seems to downshift fine sometimes alittle delayed. when i first bought the car was alittle hard to get the selector into S, but i disconnected the cable on the gearbox moved it to far right and now seems good.

Between those 2 scans the problem with #02 is very different - now it cannot even be reached.

I reckon you need to get the WD and check the power, ground and Powertrain CAN connections to the #02 controller first off, until the connection to the #02 are reliable all other debugging is like trying to herd cats.

Dave you’re right I never noticed that in the full scan. The thing that doesn’t make sense to me is why in VCDS can I ‘select control module > 02-Auto Trans’ connect to it individually? And view faults or preform a group 60 in basic settings?

Though will check all connections. Need to obtain the WD from somewhere - hopefully google can help.

Thanks again

Thanks I’ll register on Erwin.

Dave not sure if I clarified my last post but why can I connect to the Auto Trans module individually?

I'll have to leave the real experts to ponder that question

Seems when I do the autoscan and gets to address 2 it times out. When I manually select the module takes a while to respond but finally connects.

Check the TCM plug for water ingress and failed connections. It can be found on the gearbox, above the starter.

Thanks siLc. Though I did check a while back, the plug and wires all looked intact. If their was a problem with the wiring I wouldn’t be able to connect at all?

It only fails during the Autoscan but individual module connects fine just a little delayed. Maybe a firmware update might help?

‘Looked okay’, did you actually take the plug out and looked at the terminals on both sides?

Tommy, plug and pins looked good as gold with no sign of corrosion. Please view screenshots of when it connects to the trans module:

-2 successful attempts -Date: 26.05.14: So is this telling us its been flashed twice on that date? or that firmware date?

I still cant work out why in Autoscan it cant connect but in single module it finally does? any ideas guys?

There's reason to believe that there is some CAN communications trouble with the TCM. If able and feasible, you could try to obtain a test mechatronic unit - you can plug it in without installing it on the gearbox. If this also doesn't show up on autoscan, then there's a CAN wiring issue somewhere.

I'd think the reason you're able to directly access the TCM is because there's a direct K-line connection from the OBD connector to the TCM.

I knew itttt, thanks siLc for verifying. Thing is trying to get a hold of another mechatronic unit

This problem isn't contributing to those fault codes i have though? or the severe jerking. It is a lot better on take off since I increased the Hillstart aid to 2 in the ABS module though but i need to sort this out first.
