2012 VW Jetta 2.5 L ABS Module 00003 and 01486 Fault codes not clearing!!

Hello Everyone!
I'm trying to clear these 2 faults "00003 - Control Module 005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation" and "01486 - System Function Test Activated 000" I did follow the steps on this video from ross tech ----->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6lm9OmC2so and when I get to the all valves adjustment on group 025 it doesn't calibrate instead it says "No Valv [000/000] >000< Error 212" and I always start with a COLD! Engine in the mornings even with a Fan on what it could be? does anyone has an idea or run into the same issue? I've been trying for weeks now and nothing I'm about to take it to the dealer :banghead:

My guess is "01486 - System Function Test Activated" cannot be deal with until the Basic Settings have completed successfully, but I really don't know what the ""No Valv [000/000] >000< Error 212" is all about, sorry.

Hello,

"Error 212" is weird... I suspect the dealer would get the same error. So I would hold off bringing it to the dealer and maybe we can help.

Do you have a little history? was this ABS controller replaced? If so, New or Used? Also why do you have fault codes in Address [19: CAN Gateway] Address [25: Immobilizer]? What sort of work/modifications/retrofits/etc.. were performed?

There is good news, the ABS controller part number does appear to be correct as per the VIN, so that is cool.

Have you tried to clear the fault codes in the other controllers? Maybe these could be the cause of the "Error 212"?

Use the Gateway Installation List to register the [37-Navigation], that should clear the 'Incorrectly Coded' fault in [19-Gateway] - "37-Navigation -- Status: Not registered 0011"

The fault code in the Airbag maybe due to the ABS fault code, so I would not worry about that one yet.

I would try the Basic Settings group [026] and see if that one gives the same results.

Without seeing this all first hand it is a bit of speculation on by part... are you taking too long and the ABS module got too warm? Can you put something around the ABS module to shield it from the heat of the engine? As I recall, the values to go to 0s when things get too hot... but I don't recall an error 212. I no longer have quick access to a MK60EC1 ABS module for testing... be interesting to start the test plan and just let the ABS module get too hot and verify the message. Anyone?

The video shows how things will pan out when the hardware is to factory design. So it could be possible you have hardware that isn't to factory design and needs to be replaced.

Hi there, after some research, it would appear that the "Error 212" would set when the Basic Setting has aborted because the pressures did not meet the required amount or the pressure was not held for the designated amount of time.

In other words, the ABS controller did not see the correct amount of pressure (too little) or the pressure was not held for the full amount of time that the ABS required..... User Error?? ... or maybe a failing ABS brake pressure switch??

Just to confirm, are you applying steady and constant brake pedal pressure to reach and hold the required pressure as indicated below?

Current pressure in the above screen shot is [117], the pressure can be between [116] and [129] any more or less will set an error and the Basic Settings will abort.

Adding to Peter's find, errors are usually user error. Basic Settings 025 and 026 behave entire differently.

In 025 the pedal goes to the floor after you hold the specified pressure and you need to release it entirely before it will proceed to the next set of target values. If you don't release it in a timely manner or you don't hold it within the specified window you get an error. It can be frustrating.

In 026 it gets more challenging because the pedal does NOT drop. That makes it easier to miss a new target.

No doubt a faulty module, pump with integral pressure sensor or brake light switch might be cause instead but I haven't had that happen to date and we've had that test procedure up for about 10 years. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/inde...)#Longitudinal_Acceleration_Sensor_.28G251.29

I know it is weird I even put a fan on as soon I start the vehicle Ive been try it so many times I did it this morning and still getting the error before the cluster replacement there was no lights or codes on the ABS module here is a picture of the cluster before was replaced I did the replacement because middle screen failed here is a picture

Hi there, just to clarify that the "Basic Settings Status/Error Code" [212] means "Basic setting aborted User was not able to generate or hold the required pressures in the defined time."

If you saw a "Basic Settings Status/Error Code" of [116], this would mean "Basic Setting aborted ABS temperature too high." So in this case I do not think this is a temperature concern.

Thanks Drpeter after watching the Youtube video so many times I finally figure out also Thanks alot for your help I was doing it wrong (stupid me

) I held the pedal to the floor all the way and nope thats not how you do it so you have to held the pedal just enough to maintain the pressure within the target Values like you explained finally no more codes on the ABS controller also I hope this post helps someone in the future :thumbs:

With the current version of VCDS, there is a pop-up balloon for the list of possible codes for the Basic Settings results, just mouse over the value block field to display this information.

And as the awesome NEtech has explained above;

100 = Aborted: ABS Temperature too Low

By the way, it looks cold in Zalău Romania!

Try the Basic Settings again, but have the engine at operating temperature during the Basic Settings.
