Resolved Audi A3 with entertainment fault

Hello All
Looking for some advice with a 2013 Audi A3 RHD customer complaint is on drivers side of car no sound front or rear from speakers fault codes showing as tweeters. I have disconnected both doors and tweeter at front but still showing short has any one had this before codes are 0513 0518 (B1064) (B1068)

Those faults don't show "short", they show "open".

Got wiring diagrams and a DVOM?

^^^ wingman: interesting DTCs in the hex5F module in your scan - not so much because of the faults described, but more because of the faults not described!!

On my A3 (which is also RHD) - the output arrangement where the hex5F module is used as the amplifier is fairly simple in that the 4 x channels (front/rear, left/right) have their Base/Treble speakers connected in parallel. In your scan, there are no Base speaker errors which imply that the open circuit fault (for both front/rear right channels) must be downstream of the base/treble connection in the door wiring harness.

The other interesting feature about your "downstream" DTCs is that they have both occurred in quite unconnected parts of the wiring loom (i.e behind 2 x separate door skins) - suggesting that they may have resulted from human intervention, rather than being the result of inherent faults in a the vehicle's wiring-infrastructure/equipment!

I'm a firm believer in applying Occum's razor to any diagnostic exercise and I have the upmost respect for any advice that Uwe provides - but in this particular instance, before you fire-up the DVOM, perhaps it might be prudent for your client to answer some questions, maybe?

Thanks for reply guys, the VCDS scan was with both front doors disconnected, but it was still showing a fault as a short I also scaned car with TEXA diagnostics and got fault code B106813 and B106413 saying open circuit, when putting VCDS on to output tests would not do it due to fault.. Does any one know where the MMI amp unit is on the card and I will meter speakers out? or does anyone have a diagram.. forgot to mention when radio is playing the front right tweeter sometimes cracks as if a short

Again, they are not shorted, they are OPEN like Uwe stated. Means the wiring is cut from somewhere.

Usual suspect is the wiring between chassis and the door. The black rubber, pop it out from the door side and check the wiring is intact.

The MMI unit is in the glove box. You need special radio removal tool to get it out :

Thanks for reply, I have had both looms for doors out knowing this is common problem and they are fine, when I first scanned it, it came up with short on front and rear right channel speaker system. I then disconnected front windscreen tweeter, fault still showed no sound from right speakers, then disconnected one loom at a time with all disconnected still came up with fault code on tweeter, and still left speaker sometimes cracked as if short, but left speakers worked fine, I have not got customers car back in garage as yet, thought i would do some research help with you guys. Not seen MMI unit in glove box? does it have a separate amp? if so where will it be!

Which type of unit it is? One on the left or one on the right?

Left one I think the unit is integrated to the controls and is one unit. Right side is only display and the MMI unit or the brains, is visible when you open the glovebox
