Airbag coding for 2011 1K Golf

Hi guys

I have a 1K Golf 12/2011 and I'm programming a new module, I was able to read the old module so I was able to get the coding from it. I put the coding into the new module and it rejects it. I have also used the "the long code helper" which gave me another code when I pressed "do it" it said it was to long or wrong format.

I have also tried the coding number I got off Autocomsoft which was 00004341 & didn't work either. The original number off the old module was 00004343.

I have browsed the forum and couldnt locate a code either. My thoughts are that it may need to be flashed with a dealer tool to code the new module?

It has an immo code saying block from starting but the customer has told me that the immo has been bypassed and I can confirm that because the car still starts, could this be a problem?

Is the new airbag module COMPLETELY identical to the original (including color code)? Just matching the main part number isn't enough, the color code (characters on the label after the part number) must match too.

Yup. There is one and only one coding acceptable to these modules and it's determined by the module's "index" or "color code", which in turn is determined by the parameter set in the module, which much precisely match the car's restraint and sensor configuration.

What's the source of the "new" module? If it was purchased at the dealer, the index / color code should be on the invoice. If it was ordered by VIN, it should be the correct one for the car, but the fact that this module doesn't accept the coding that was in the old one implies it's not the same index / color code. That doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong for the car; sometimes several different ones will "fit", but I'm not confident that it's correct either.

If you just ordered a "5C0 959 655 A" somewhere without specifying an index / color code, chances are this module isn't correct for the car.

Hi, The module was purchased through the VW dealer and the VIN was used to ensure that the correct part was supplied. I will contact the customer and get a copy of the invoice and a photo of the new and old module to double check the part.

I used the 3 characters off the new module after the part No as the index Part No 5C0959655A/0CJ am I correct in saying that the "0CJ" is the index number? Also what do you mean by "Colour Code"?

Use "CJ" as Index.

Coding should be 0000434A

I didn't try VCDS coding but when I put the coding in VCDS said it was the wrong format or wrong length. I tried "0CJ" but I didn't try just "CJ"

I used the coding out of the old module which was 00004343 I didn't try 0000434A but I will try that when I go back.

I just got a copy of the invoice and they definitely used the VIN because its on the invoice and the part number is exactly the same as the old one including the prefix.

Comparing the old and new physical module one is made in Germany and the new one is made in Mexico, also there is a number in a rectangular box after the part No the old one is 07 H011 S0906 & the new one is 10 H014 S0907 can this be an issue?

Yes, OCJ would be the index or color code. These terms are used somewhat interchangeably. If you were ordering, for example, an interior trim price, then that suffix to the part number would specify its color. With an airbag module, it specifies the index (how the module is parameterized).

I concur with Niels. Coding for index 0CJ should be 0000434A.

The car accepted the code and all codes cleared.
