    Do I need to adapt a DPF pressure sensor for a 2016 Tiguan?

    I am new to the forum. I have a 2016 VW Tiguan.

    Recently I had a couple fault codes related to the DPF pressure sensor. I checked voltage and blockage. All seemed to be normal so I figured it was the sensor. I bought a new sensor from VW and installed it. I cleared the codes and drove it for a bit but the check engine light comes back with the following codes.
    P2456 00 (237) - DPF sensor intermittent
    P154B 00 (040) - DPF Sensor faulty

    I am not sure if I needed to adapt the new sensor before starting the car again or not. At the time i did not have VCDS, but just a somewhat generic reader.

    Do I need to adapt the sensor on this car? And if so what would be the procedure. I only see a procedure for the G450, is that the same?

    I should add the tiguan drives completely fine and just recently i performed a regen (the regen light came up).

    Any help would be great.

    I swapped my DPF sensor as well last october and although the instructions say that you need to adapt the new sensor, I didn't. I did run a forced regen though but no adaptation was done.

    I've had zero issues.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Since I have installed this sensor the above fault came back after I cleared the DTC's and drove it for a bit. The other day I did a force regen (the check engine light was on). Now that I have vcds, i have cleared the codes. I have only driven the tiguan for about 15 minutes and no faults have come back. Maybe now that the MIL is off, i should do another force regen.

    Regardless, do you know how i should perform an adaptation for the newer sensor. I can't seem to find an option for it on VCDS.

    I didn't find it either, maybe that's why I did not do it

    I used ODIS for regen cycle and if I remember correctly I tried to do dpf sensor adaptation from the basic settings there and it stated based on measured values that it is not needed so I didn't do it.

    So I just went for a 35 minute drive and the mil came back on with the same codes.
    I guess I should clear the codes and set a Regen.
    How do I set a force Regen on vcds?
    I’m just wondering why I have a code that says I have a faulty pressure sensor when it’s brand new. Obviously things can be bad right out of the box. But I was wondering if I messed it up by not doing an adaptation.
    Or simply doing a force Regen will calibrate the Sensor and it will read correctly.

    Did you consider if PSI lines are at top of DPF and the sensors were vicariously damaged as a result of filled ash or particulate matter, would it be plausible that the DPF is most likely full?

    Did you measure back pressure comparisons with mechanical gauges or are you going to continue to use speculation by the use of your ass in seat method, you know via mind melt with car?

    I appreciate your sarcasm. Well my procedure was this. I checked to see if the lines are blocked. Appears to be good. I checked voltage going to the sensor. All with in spec. So I figured the last thing it could be was the sensor. Before I put the new sensor in I did not get a sensor failed code but a sensor erratic code.
    No I have not checked the sensor with a mechanical gauge yet to verify if the sensor is reading accurately.
    This is my first time diagnosing ecu issues and first time using vcds. So I am just trying to find direction from some experts like you.

    Would a full dpf set off a code which reads Sensor faulty?

    And wouldn’t a blocked dpf be caused from a faulty sensor? The sensor not seeing the filter is getting full? Or why would a dpf filter clog up and the sensor not pick this up?
