Audi Q5 8R 2016 Bi Xexon Headlight dipping change

I've recently bought an Audi Q5 8R 2016 LHD, with Bi Xexon adaptive headlights. The lights are adaptive in that the headlight advance follows the bend in the road and also appear to auto dip and level.
From the information about these lights, it tends to suggests they may be auto adjustable to dip as RHD lights, based on the side of the road they are travelling. i.e. if travelling as a LHD they will dip right and as a RHD will dip left. There is also a suggestion that they may be changed via the MMI into TRAVEL Mode. I've had a look through the MMI menu, but cant see anything. Can anyone please enlighten me if these are auto changing, and if not how do I set them up on the MMI.

Please post an Auto-Scan for context. It's possible that feature needs to be enabled via an Adaptation channel or something like that.

Do you have sat nav? The GPS location data is used to enable the automatic changing of the headlights from RHD to LHD.

Thanks PD for your quick response. I'll try when dark and on a road with no oncoming traffic (bearing in mind the auto dip and me then driving on the wrong side of the road). With the auto bending function is there any other signs I should be looking for ?

Just driving on the wrong side of the road won't change their behaviour - as I said the GPS location data is used to determine the county where the car is located, but if you don't have sat nav then the car won't have GPS!

So just to clarify - does your car have sat nav?

Not necessarily true. Andy had a 2015 GTI that didn't have Sat Nav, but the Telematics module had real-time GPS coordinates in the MVBs at all times. :eek:

However, I suspect that GPS data w/o navigation functionality is not sufficient to trigger an automatic change-over for the headlights.

I think it's required for the automatic transmission of crash data that the EU have been pushing for several years.

The car I mentioned (Andy's 2015 GTI) was a US model. But I suspect all modern telematics modules have a GPS receiver in them and know their location.

OK, so BCM 1 (at address 09) has a coding option (Byte 04, bit 6) for "Tourist Mode adjustable via MMI/Car Menu", which is not currently enabled. I would try enabling it and then see if you don't have a new menu item in your MMI.
