Hi

We are having a problem with our HEX-NET - It works fine apart from at random times it reports HEX-NET is talking to VCDS Cloud (It always used to say this if you plug it into a car and try to scan quickly but leave for 5-10 seconds and would work fine) but now this pops up while doing an autoscan or when in a ECU:

Once you click ok
then is pops up
HexinterError2 by DG Motor Services, on Flickr
and you have to shut VCDS down and unplug the lead and start again

The above pictures it was between ECU on a autoscan, but sometime it will be in the ECU when it happens

If you try a port test when this happens it cant find the head:

Unplug and replug the hex-net back in and all works again:

This is the self test for the HEX-NET

Ive tried different computers and also different cars (CAN and K line)
Hexnet is in infrastructure mode
Ive checked the wifi and internet here (Updated and re-started everything) and also tried to update the hexnet but no updates are found

LED are all green
1 = solid
2 = solid
3 = flashing

Anything else to try?

Forgot to say - with it wired using the USB lead it seems to work fine.

Im going to setup a new wifi network and try connecting to that and see if that makes a difference.

Is your current WiFi network set to dynamically choose which channel to use and to be able to use all the UK WiFi channels including 12 & 13?

I ask because the HEX-NET can only use the US WiFi channels from 1 to 11 - I had to change the setup of my router to tell it the country was US to get my HEX-NET working.

Yes it was on dynamic but seems to have been using channel 6 for a long while
Ive done a RF scan and 1 + 11 are very heavy populated so changed to stick to channel 6. Will try that tomorrow.

If VCscope window is open from previous session, same fault will appear.

In VCDS-Mobile, go to [View Saved Files] and check if it has logs it is trying to upload. You can manually upload logs here and wait for them to finish. Usually this happens when the interface is busy syncing logs to the cloud.

Think i've found what wrong, it AVG internet security

I used my laptop and this doesn't have any anti virus and everything worked fine
I had added the fixed IP address and VCDS program to the exemption list in the past but it seem to be ignoring this and still blocking!

I have both Malwarebytes and Avast on my tablet and the HEX-NET works OK.

The weird thing is this morning I did 2x full autoscans no problems, then went back to clear the codes after fixing the car and it was playing up.
When it did and VCDS wouldn't connect tried the IP address and VCDS mobile - this all worked fine - then tried my laptop and this worked fine with VCDS
Back on the computer it didnt work on when it does play up turning off AVG gets VCDS working again

Still not found what I need to change in AVG to get it working all the time.
Ill keep you updated

I think i've found it, For some reason AVG had created a new network profile and that was set to public.

When it worked it was using the private one
and when I had problem it was set to the public one

I have changed all the DGmotors.local to private and so far all seems good.
