Hello all,
Checking in from the Southwest of the UK, The purpose of this post is to say hello and ask a couple of probably obvious questions, as well as a 'test' of my ability to correctly interact and post the required information to help people help me :)
I have a 2002 VW Transporter 2.5Tdi (AJT) It was a box van but has been home converted to a campervan. The fuel injectors have been changed at some stage, it has had VW OEM cruise control fitted aftermarket. The Van is running correctly and has no issues that I am aware of.

I predominately bought VCDS (Hex-V2) for the ability to view live injection pump timing data and I believe i have managed to achieve this, I have made minor adjustments to the tensioner and adjustment pulley on the fuel injection pump belt and seen a corresponding change in the displayed information.

One question was to do with the 'shape' of the limit lines on the TDI timing graph, most other graphs I have seen of images on VCDS have the three limit lines (red/blue/green) dropping away as temperature increases, my graph has the lines parallel all along the temperature axis, is this correct for the AJT engine? or have I made some fundamental error.

Second bone question, on my scan, the engine module 01, shows "Labels: Redir fail!" is this a problem with my van or a communication glitch with VCDS and the antique systems that the van uses?

Hopfully all the required information is included in this post,

feedback welcome,

Chris

Hi and welcome.
Some engines have do have limit lines that are not fuel-temperature dependent. Without digging up old service info for the AJT engine, I can't be 100% certain that yours is one of them, but I'm reasonably confident that if VCDS shows it that way, it's correct because we got that data from the service documentation for the various engines when they were still more-or-less current.

Second bone question, on my scan, the engine module 01, shows "Labels: Redir fail!" is this a problem with my van or a communication glitch with VCDS and the antique systems that the van uses?
No, that's strictly a failing in the English version of VCDS. The German version has a label file for it that the English one doesn't. If you have specific questions about it, feel free to ask.

Hi Uwe,
Thanks for the quick response.
The timing graph question was more for reassurance as it responded logically to the changes I made, and I appreciate that my vehicle is getting on a bit :o

I'm still learning what I can do with VCDS and as yet don't know what questions to ask, I'm interested in the scan 'looking in all the places' it is able to, would the German label file show more information, would there be any value in putting that file name into my scan (and how would I go about doing that for that matter?) would this show more detailed information on what controllers are available/used in the engine 01 module?

I am browsing the Forum and have been watching the YouTube video's to increase my appreciation of what I could do with VCDS.

I'm sure I will have many questions, however I have more reading/viewing to do first :D

You can download and install the German version of VCDS from this page. Your interface isn't licensed for that version, and thus won't work very well with it, but once it's installed, you can go to the Labels/DRV/ sub-folder and grab the file named 074-906-018-AJT.lbl from there. Copy it to the English installation, preferably to the Labels/User/ sub-folder.

The only difference I am aware of was the data fields had German language 'speech' bubbles when I placed the cursor over them in when looking at live data from 01 Engines 08 measuring block group 000 (prior to using TDI graph) Previously the data was there but no explanation.

Thank you for your help, I'm sure I'll have more questions as I explore more but I'll be sure to post in the appropriate section.

A label file isn't going to change the data VCDS shows. Its job is to try to explain what the data means.
