Hi. This the first time we have had to post, so please excuse if we miss anything.
We have 2008 Golf plus with some issues.

The customer explained to us that the battery went flat, called out assistance for jump start and now many errors showing in cluster.
After scanning the vehicle, we thought simple repair carry out steering angle basic settings, stop limit adjustments and brake system function test and job done.
How wrong were we.
We have never experienced any problem with carrying out the necessary repairs before. Tried several attempts, but to no avail. Explained to customer that something could have been damaged/spiked due to jump start.
So they decided with advice from us to start replacing parts.
We bought new genuine angle sensor, replaced steering column module,ABS module and Yaw rate sensor with good known parts still could not carry out basic settings.
We then decided to replace steering rack, carry out alignment and then attempt the basic settings.
Problem still exits.

Hope someone has come up against this before and can help us out ? PLEASE.

And this procedure from RT Wiki does not work ?

Code:
Steering Limit Stop Adaptation
(Engine still running)

Center steering wheel (±10°) and hold it centered for 5 seconds.
Turn steering wheel completely to the left and hold it there for 10 seconds.
Turn steering wheel completely to the right and hold it there for 10 seconds.
Center steering wheel (±10°).
Switch OFF engine and ignition.
Switch ON ignition.
Wait 5 seconds.
Steering Assist Warning Lamp should turn OFF. If it doesn't, perform a short test drive.

It is sometimes a bit tricky but it works. I've done it many times to 2007 Golf Plus.

If it does not clear, this might be worth checking as well :
Code:
Verify all of the WSS (Wheel Speed Sensor) values are plausible in the 03-ABS controller! We received feedback from both Mk70 equipped and MK60 ESP equipped (1K) Golf models with 02546 and 00778 DTCs that would not clear due to a faulty WSS. Even if a WSS DTC is not stored it would be advised to log or graph MVB 001 while driving.

Source : http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Steering_Assist

I would clear all DTCs and take a fresh autoscan and post it here so we'll see the problems still existing. Clearly the Yaw rate sensor errors are not valid anymore if you've changed the sensor box?

Thank you for posting the Auto-Scan!

01542 - Yaw Rate Sensor (G202)

Do these codes keep coming back? If so, that is a big problem. Hopefully since they are all listed as "Intermittent", they will clear out and not return.

The 01486 System Function Test, this is a test mode that the ABS module is in, details here. Note this is most likely the LAST thing you want to deal with.

00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)

Generally speaking, these codes are pretty easy, just need to do a drunken test drive. Put the car into gear and reach speeds of 3MPH (4kmh), then as fast as possible rotate the steering wheel all the way to the left, hit the end stop, then rotate the wheel quickly to the right and hit the stop, back to the left quickly, hit the stop, ASAP to the right and hit the stop... now center the steering wheel out so you are rolling in a straight line and come to a stop. If the amber steering wheel light is on, repeat the test drive. As some point, the amber steering wheel light will turn off and power steering will kick in.

Odds are the electrical part of the ignition switch needs to be replaced... getting the trim off the steering column is the hard part of that job, the switch part itself just snaps into place.

Thanks for the replies.
Sorry forgot to mention, We fitted new ignition switch and those errors have been deleted.
The only errors that remain are 01486 in ADDRESS 03 ABS and 02456, 00778 in ADDRESS 44 steering assist.
Like you say it should be an easy fix. We have done many over the years and have never had an issue like this.
We have checked all speed sensors like it suggests on Rosstech.
Never have we come across a vehicle as stubborn as this one. We have 3 tech's on site and all have tried the procedure many times.
Just wondered if anyone has come up against something like this before ??? Is there something that we may have overlooked ??

Hi Jeff.

We have had this vehicle with us since February. (before the lockdown).
I think we may have you asked for some advice when we contacted Ross Tech support. It may have been you that suggested posting on the forum.
We have only just returned to work after 8 weeks off and now hoping to try and rectify this problem.

Did you finish the system test? Maybe that is now preventing the steering assist basic setting

Thanks downtime for the reply.

I was told by Ross-tech that it isn't possible to do SYSTEM FUNCTION TEST until all basic settings have been carried out.
I have tried to do this first and get ABS lamp to extinguish, but as soon as stop key off/on it returns with list of error codes for all speed sensors, yaw rate implausible signals etc..

Anyone have any more idea's ??

Would be much appreciated if someone get shed some light. HELP !!

But do you still have the system function test activated in error messages? I'm under the impression that you can finish system function test as it's independent from the faults your having.

Check the wiring to the ABS unit. Also check visually the ESP control unit. It should be located somewhere under the gear stick area in the dashboard. MK60 ABS pump does not have them inbuilt yet.

Graph the MVblocks for all 4 wheel speed sensors, I have had a few of these were its a faulty magnet ring on the back of the wheel bearing. It stops basic settings, its usually a rear one

Thanks for replies.

We have already replaced the ABS controller and ESP sensor (located under drivers seat/carpet), checked all wiring etc
We have graphed all speed sensors in MVB and all are OK.
Tried again numerous times to carry out the basic settings. No luck.???

Hi Jack

Yes the ignition switch was replaced first off. All the ignition errors have been erased.
We have also replaced the the G85 angle sensor with a new genuine part. The steering rack assy has been replaced with a re manufactured unit from WPS.
The ESP sensor , ABS module and steering column module have also been replaced but with good used parts.
Checked and double checked all wiring harness and ground points.
Still no joy with basic settings.

Can someone tell me. Is it possible to complete brake system test whilst still having error codes in the (44) steering module ?? Seem to be getting conflicting answers to this question.
Some say it can be done, whilst others are saying that you have to erase all error codes first.??

Update.
We were successful in carrying out what was explained by Jacek. No more ABS warning lamp. Many thanks for that.
So again we tried to carry out basic settings for G85 steering angle sensor. Still not able to carry this out.
When viewing MVB060 in 03 Brake electronics is says OK for adjustment but still says steering angle not initialized?
We have tried all manner of driving styles, still not successful.

SAS and all faults must be corrected and test adaption commenced in 0x44 first and then 0x03 and it must all be done in same ignition switch session!
