Got here 05, 7LA Touareg, Im normally ok with the air suspension on the VAG range but this one is kicking my butt, the arse end was in the air and it was bouncing along, it would not lower, I put 2 new genuine residual pressure valves on the rear airsprings, manually removed the pressure from the system to level the vehicle, In basic settings I can fill, bleed, empty, lower raise the vehicle no problems but when I get to last stage of calibration in adaption, Channel 05 (confirmation) I always get error when Im clicking from 4 up to 5, any clues why

Thanks

Do whatever is necessary to get the vehicle reasonably level and at something resembling normal height and then look through the Measuring Blocks in the 34 - Level Control module to see if one of the height readings is substantially different than the other three.

Sensor mechanical basic setting invalid?

Did you consider must be set manually to achieve range desired of target in controller for adaptation or value input is implausible target?

Battery charger!

All sensors have been checked, I depressurized the system, checked low reading of sensors then slowly jacked each corner also with scope pinned to module to make sure there was no dropouts, when the "wait" command it displayed it does sort itself out to normal level.

I did set it manually by measuring each corner, there's only about 10mm difference, battery charger?, I dont think its needed as this has to be done with the engine running

Any other clues
Thanks

Okay dismiss me, however, you do realize I'm not speaking of measuring sweep with meter/scope or speaking of electrical faults, I am speaking of range of mechanical basic setting of physical sensor placement or rod to sensor?

01400 - Suspension Level Control
001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

Clue......
Did you even read the DTC reported?

If you change position slightly can you vacate DTC and complete the adaptation?

Clue......
Did you even read the DTC reported?

Ive read this:

Possible Causes
Leakage
Excess Temperature Shut Off

Possible Solutions
Check System for Leaks
See Factory Repair Manual for Details
Let the System cool down before any further Attempts

Ive no idea what the operating temperature is on these compressors, Ive had the compressor lying on the cold stone floor waiting for it do something, it would be nice if it did cut off due to overheating at least then I know its tried

Im 110% sure its got no leaks, thats been checked and checked again

Ive got in MB's 005

LF(G78).............RF(G289).............LR(G76).............RR(G77)
...90.0...................112.0.................112.0.................114.0

Im thinking maybe left front as its 12/4 mm lower maybe causing the problem but I also though thats why the system needed calibrating to even them all out

any more clues

Thanks

Did you know electronic calibration can only be done if mechanical components measured basic settings are in criteria range to permit it to achieve an adaption point to point & too establish the full RANGE?

If we count one (what Jack wrote) plus one (Your measurements), what should we get? Maybe five? :D
LF(G78).............RF(G289).............LR(G76).. ...........RR(G77)

But ok, if You said, LF is really physically lower, then do couple other tests (on level surface, of course) - lower vehicle as low as it is possible, check all level measurements, and lift it as high as possible and check measurements again.
In some position one or more measurements may go outside of acceptable range, so it may cause the DTC 01400 - Suspension Level Control
001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

Mechanical problems cant be corrected with software if out past a specific threshold of software table in diagnostic stack that cause a DTC when out of range.

Mechanical adjustment basic settings never get old.

When are people going stop relying on the scanner for everything and RTFB? .........

If failing to read RTFB maybe compare one side to other side with measuring tape and relaxed MIN/MAX settings to bring other side into a range by defined ambidextrous setup points?

check all level measurements, and lift it as high as possible and check measurements again.

Ive have done this:

https://forums.ross-tech.com/showth...nsion-problems&p=202784&viewfull=1#post202784

also the difference between 90mm and 112mm is 12mm, 12mm is just under half inch so its poss that is why the calibration needs doing to calibrate it all, I have worked on plenty more of these vags with level control and when doing calibration it was a lot more that half inch difference on the measurements?

All sorted, the N111 venting solenoid was seized due to water ingress, this "new" compressor has only been on about a month, the plunger should have about 10mm movement in and out so that should add up to about, hang on 10+10=30, give or TAKE the 10 :)

I didnt think it was anything to do with height differences, that gets sorted out when you calibrate the system, like ALL the others Ive done, I do RTFB on a system that im not 100% ok with

I swapped it for the old solenoid and it all does what its meant to do

Thanks
