Auto Scan posted Here: https://forums.ross-tech.com/showth...019-VW-Tiguan-SEL-Premium&p=185698#post185698

I was wondering anyone knows what Adaptations in th BCM need to be changed to get the DRLs to blink opposite the turn signal. (I know what changes need to be made, I just can't figure out what Adaptation channels needs to be changed.) I pulled a full ADPMAP for the module, but couldn't find anything pointing to these lights.

Hawkeye: Hi.

The primary answer to your question is that unlike earlier MQB platform vehicles, your version "Tiggy" (which is a delightful term that I have borrowed from Dana) does not use the BCM to control the headlight assemblies. Instead, your car uses separate Light Control Modules (look at your auto-scan @ addresses hex29 & hexD6 (left-side headlight fittings) and @ addresses hex39 & hexD7 (right-side headlight fittings).

That said, there is a dialogue HERE that hypothesizes a link between the BCM and the LCM s. This theoretical proposal is very much in its infancy and my attempt to test the hypothesis in the first case was singularly unsuccessful!

But, if you post-up a copy of your admap, and if you have the interest in being a guinea-pig, we can try again. If you want to proceed with this offer - it would help if you described how the DRLs operate (i.e. under what conditions the LEDs illuminate and switch-off). I can use this information to confirm the results of decoding the hex-string for the light configuration channel in the BCM

hmmm.......................and?

- it would help if you described how the DRLs operate (i.e. under what conditions the LEDs illuminate and switch-off). I can use this information to confirm the results of decoding the hex-string for the light configuration channel in the BCM

Also, given the failure of my first attempt to use the new hypothesis on LCM cars, - please confirm which of the following SA s are accepted by the BCM on your car:
  • 31347
  • 20107
  • 42013
I'm not sure if you are aware that control modules on MQB platform vehicles get cranky (they lock-out) if too many attempts are made to enter incorrect security codes.

I've no doubt that 31347 will be accepted, but for the other 2 x SA s, please refer to my picture below:

On each attempt - make sure that you commence the test by starting at the first screen. Before entering the other SA's, navigate through screens 2 and 3 and ensure that the Number of invalid keys measurement is less than 3. If the measurement is above 2, close the module and wait with the ignition switched-on until the measurement resets to 0 (can be up to 20 minutes in my experience).

I'll give it a try later today after work. I'll let you know. 31347 is in fact accepted. I've already made a few changes in the BCM. I haven't even played around the LCMs.

I tested and the other 2 keys are rejected. As far as how the DRLs currently operate; they are always on while the car is on. I tested with the Switch in the off, Auto, Parking light, and On positions. I enabled the switch to turn off the DRLs from the lighting menu on the radio. If I uncheck the box for DRLs there they go off when the physical light switch is in the Off position and in the Auto position when it's light out. The lights will also "wink" when I signal, but only when in DRL mode. If I signal when the main headlights are on, the lights remail lit when I signal.

hawkeye: many thanks for testing the additional security codes and for providing the DRL operation explanation. I'm not sure about others but for me, this type of information (even if it is negative) is valuable - so much appreciated!

OK - I've now parsed the code-string on your light configuration channel through my MS Excel macro and results are as follows:

In summary- of the 14 x Leuchte-sets in the lighting configuration channel code, only 6 x Leuchte-sets are active on your BCM! Alas, for reasons that remain unknown (to me), the DRL lamps are NOT included in LC channel code.

As I have said, negative results can be as informative as positive results when trying to understand these embryonic hypotheses - all I need to do now is figure-out why?

Thanks again for your participation!

Don

Thanks for the help. Let me know if you need me to pull any other information from the car.
