Good afternoon,

I have a bit of a strange pickle.

1999 VW Jetta 2.0 4 cylinder that is a no-crank no-start case.

I have replaced the starter.
I have replaced the ignition cylinder.
The battery is fully charged.
The key fob will open and lock all doors.
All electrical items appear to be working properly.

Could the immobilizer be the root of my issue even thought the key FOB still works to lock/unlock the doors?

Any other idea's would be a great starting point.

The car was functioning properly until I drove it to work one morning and it would not start when it was time to go home. Had to have it towed.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave WTF! are you doing?

Scan? 1999 MK3 or 1999 MK4?

No it's not Immobilizer related....could be, ground strap, positive feed to or starter, alarm module, wiring, relay, or fuse and even new ignition switch if not genuine?

Did you observe the WD yet and see if relay for starter and power are making way through the track when switch is turned to crank?

I agree with Jack. 1999 US models don't have an immobilizer, but even if it did, the immo wouldn't keep it from cranking.

However, the Central Locking or Central Convenience module (depending on Mk.3 or Mk.4 and equipment) does have an anti-theft function that can prevent the car from cranking.

Post an Auto-Scan please so people can see what this is and what it's made of.

No it's a MK4 with 1J0 and 06A controllers not MK3!

Now post Terminal 50 WD for ignition switch to starter tracks and lets trace it okay?

VIN number please?

I will almost bet this is related to your issue "Davethewave washer"

What does the park neutral indicator say on dash and did you try to select neutral to start the car too?

Is shift cable in proper order or valve body to controls that initiate F125?

Have you tried selecting neutral and clearing codes in transmission with VCDS & to see if blocks reflect a gear and if will than try to crank?

1 Fault Found:
00293 - Multi-function Switch (F125)
25-00 - Unknown Switch Condition

Did you check the F125 yet?

Never negate or dismiss scans and JPPSG........!
