Passat B8 2016 MFSW buttons not working Coding problem ?

Hi
I have big problem with Passat B8 2016
Car come to my garage for repair i don't know car history
Two buttons on right side of steering wheel not working, on CAN measuring blocks I can see that buttons are working, but on dashboard nothing is happening.
Second thing is that button for changing drive mode have same problem, can read that button is pressed but nothing happening.

My friend code whole car on-line for me.
Only module that is not compatybile for this car is : 5F: Information Electr. I checked on other similar Passat B8 that all function should be working even 5F is disconnected.

I exchanged :
16: Steering wheel (J524)
from other working car. No help

As is indicated by the DTC and as is confirmed by Byte 19, Bit 5 - your module has MOST enabled meaning that it expects the optical bus to be active (and there are no other modules in your auto-scan that support optical communications). Perhaps try turning-off this software switch

I checked on other similar Passat B8 that all function should be working even 5F is disconnected.
Instrument cluster react on button OK, not reacting on left and right

I have big problem with Passat B8 2016 .................


I exchanged :
16: Steering wheel (J524)
from other working car. No help

Kazikk: I'm not familiar with the Passat specifically, but on MQB cars (like the B8), the steering wheel buttons are not connected (electrically) to J524. Instead on these cars, the hex19 module has 2 x separate LIN data buses and the multifunction steering wheel control module (J453) communicates with the LIN master on line 2 - like this:

The software switch that tells the CAN Gateway module that j453 is installed is on Byte 1, Bit 0 - this switch is set on your car

your j453 appears on your autoscan as it should as a slave to the CAN Gateway like this:

I checked and there is no communication on most line from 17 Dashboard to 5F Information Electr

I assumed from your sentence structure (above) that the observation about the dashboard referred ONLY to the "two buttons". Are you now saying that the dashboard isn't operational at all?

in my first reply, and based on the DTC descriptors (above) and my assumption regarding the dashboard - I simply assumed that P/N 3G0 920 791 A was a standard instrument cluster, but on a closer check it does seem to be MOST driven - my bad.

I'm not aware that the instrument cluster does have a MOST software switch . This is how the MOST ring operates on MQB platform vehicles:

Because there are no related DTCs in your scan report, I haven't shown the "ring-break" wires in my diagram. This additional diagnostic arrangement forms a separate "wheel-spoke" topology connecting each unit in the MOST ring. Ring-break is monitored by the CAN Gateway on MQB cars and as I say, your hex 19 module isn't complaining about these faults.

So, short answer: AFAIK the enabling software switch for the MOST function resides in Byte 19, Bit 5 on the hex5F module - which is kind-of like the "master" MOST device. In addition, the hex5F unit has another software switch Byte 22, Bit 0 that tells the module to operate the dashboard as a MOST device (see below). Your long-code has this Bit set to CAN (not MOST), but I've seen this same setting on other AID dashboard modules.
