Hey guys I'm new here so ill try not to muff this all up. My wifes q5 started getting warm on the way to the gas station the other day. Now it never actually overheated. i noticed my ac stopped blowing cold and instantly saw my temp gauge was slowly rising so i pulled over to have a look. I was able to turn the heater on and cruise home and the gauge dropped back down. I have since scanned it and get two key faults that seem to be irrelevant (again im not the most technically or mechanically inclined human) However the other thing i noticed is my Hvac system has a redirectfail. I'v been reading through these forums pretty religiously in an attempt to not post repetitive threads but i can't seem to figure this thing out so some help would be greatly apreciated. :D

"Redir Fail" means there's no label file for that module in the language version of VCDS you're using (English). Looks like there is one for that module in German.

I also see no fault codes relevant to the AC cutting out or the coolant overheating in the data you posted above. I agree that the Key faults in the Kessy module not related to this.

The first thing I'd check that is that the radiator fans come on as expected. You can do this in the comfort of your driveway, just let the vehicle warm up at idle with the AC on to see if the problem is reproducible.

okay so i just did a little rereation test

1) turned vehicle on- no fans running

2) turned A/c on- both fans on high (keep in mind im in southern california and its 97F out)

3) turned a/c back off- both fans turn off

4) temp gauge to center- both fans on low

5) drove around the block with no a/c and temp gauge started rising above center, both fans were on super high and the car sounded like a boing 757 airliner

6) turned the heater on full blast and the gauge began to drop as drove the car home.

7) sat in the driveway and clicked the A/c back on at idle and the gauge began to rise again.

8) turned off came inside and here we are

Sounds like the fans aren't the problem then. Stuck thermostat?

Petrol Dave is correct this function for fan operation is bifurcated!
Fuse for radiator fan temp switch faulty directly or fan controller checked yet?
Fans come on for several inputs please check RTFB and WD to familiarize circuit.

Want to post screen shots what you don't understand for clarity on WD?
