As far as the interior mirror, when I did my A5 camera retrofit (on a GTI with the 3Q0 facelift camera, mind you, so this may not apply completely) I didn't want to put the auto-dimming mirror at the time. so instead, I used a standard mirror (Part# 3G0-857-511-N-9B9) with the Rain-Light sensor mount and it fits rather well in the camera mount.

However, as darkchina said, if it is the 5Q0 camera, it is a whole different mirror.

Yes I can see that for the Golf. The mirrors for Leon seem to be the same either with or without the A5. Only some plastic caps and trim changes.

I would say you can use your existing auto-dimming interior mirror with the A5 camera windscreen mount without a worry. Did a A5 retrofit to a B8 and the old mirror fit without issues, just changed the plastic caps.

So I'm waiting for all the parts (windscreen, harness, camera) to arrive for the A5 retrofit and yesterday I was playing with the coding. Should I be looking to something more than the famous XaGiCo pdf? I saw some differences in the adaptation channels between the pdf and my system which is production of late 2018.

Also I think I'm getting a brand new camera. What are the steps I should take? Coding with VCDS, parametrization with the "other tool" and then calibration?

I will be building VAS6430 on my own since I got a friend with a printing shop and then I'm taking it to a specialist with ODIS. Is there something I should have in mind? I have read all workshop manual instructions regarding distancing etc but I don't know if the calibration should take place in both daylight and night.

Enough if you calibrate it at normal room lighting. They don’t calibrate that for both in workshop either.

You can get the VAS boards printed from Aliexpress as well. The front camera cal board was around 50€

Yeah I saw the boards at Aliexpress but god knows when it's coming from china to greece. Plus my friend will do it for free.

I also talked to that specialist about next steps with ACC and if I understood correctly he may be able to purchase some FeC codes. Is that a thing or is he just going to get to those "hacker" guys who I have already spoken to?

the FeC code for ACC cannot be obtained officially. we are still not sure how those "hackers" do it, best guess is they clone it from a VIN who had it from the factory. there are chances you'll lose the FeC if you bring the car to a dealer for service and they do some advanced stuff with ODIS. it's your choice.

I’ve seen some of these specialist selling developer keys. If you have bad luck and you get blacklisted key, your car VIN might get banned from mothership server which means no CP nor IMMO jobs for that VIN anymore in the future.

Not with 3Q0 camera

It does not comply with that. The round radar is from 2013-2014 when there still were 5Q0 cameras only.

So only option is the expensive ACC

Bummer...I guess I will retrofit all parts as they arrive and then activate only the A5 which is for free! :P If I don't spend much on vacation I will do the criminal part as well! :P

I will go for a 5Q since I will have to deal with hackers sooner or later and it has to be something they have done before. Question was more for the ending letter of the part number.

So, since I'm still waiting for parts from our beloved China, I decided to fit the 3-lever stalk on the steering column in order to be ready for ACC coding. After taking off the old stalk (5Q0953507GP 2-lever with CC on the signals) I found out that it was connected with 3 different plugs whereas the 3-lever stalk (5Q1953507BQ) had only one input.

Luckily next door there is a shop which sort of specializes in VAGs and the guy saw me in trouble and suggested that I could exchange the 3-lever stalks with the old round part (the tape part). Which I did and it all seems to work fine. Signals, high beam, front/rear wipers etc are working fine.

I then coded J527 to have the "CC controlled via separate lever" but it doesn't work. I don't get any VCDS faults just sign B on the VC:

Is that something I should expect? ACC lever can only work as ACC and not as simple CC? Since I cannot fit the rest of the ACC parts to complete the retrofit for at least a month, it would be nice to have the CC working with the 3-lever stalk.

Hi guys,

This weekend I managed to finish the installation of an ACC radar and an A5 camera. Both modules are used and the harness was purchased from Ali. As expected I am getting some fault codes. So I wanted to ask if any of these faults suggest wiring issues that should be taken care of before reassembling the car. I am mostly concerned about these "DATABUS" faults on the ACC & A5 cause all others pretty much make sense.

Code the modules first. That should get rid of most of the errors. For A5 you should be left with basic setting required and for ACC naturally removing of CP and insertion of SWaP.

By coding I guess you mean the real deal with adaptions etc (of course the other tool too)? Because I tried some coding (but no adaptions) earlier today and all I got was more faults. Plus the radar refuses to even accept coding of auto trans (gives "out of range" message), probably coming from a manual T-Roc. Anyway I will do it properly as per Xagico manual and I will get back with a new scan.

So my freshly retrofitted ACC decided to go misaligned right after 300-400km of driving. Fault says "vertical misalignment". Is there anything VCDS can do about the calibration needed or I can only do that via ODIS?
