ABS "coding rejected"

Hello all
today i had a skoda octavia 2011, ABS coding was lost, so I entered https://diagnostics.vis4vag.com to get the ABS coding for it, I gave them VIN, part number and address as usual, they gave me this coding

Code:

113B201C092700*F*3881204E990220041300000

and i entered it to the ABS but it rejected it, then i remembered that i did an autoscan for this car before and i found the original coding for the ABS.
which is

and as you can see the only difference between them is between stars.
my question is if this happens to me in the future and i dont have the original coding, how can i find the difference and solve the case
here an autoscan today while the ABS coding was lost

You can't prevent loosing the coding...

But what you can do is when you get a "new" car do an autoscan and create channel-maps of all modules in the car. Save them on a safe place! Then when you loose or "accidentaly" change your coding, you can allways revert to the original one.

I agree with Mari. Better to be safe than sorry.
Scan everything you have and save it, preferably after eachosifocation you do. ABS modules are known to be very picky when it comes to accepting coding. And with good reason, it must be done well.

If all else fails, panic. And then ask for help. The VW dealer is able to restore factory coding. This works well if you didn't reteofit other components or upgraded the module itself. Ross Tech forum can often find you a proper coding as well.

Easy..........a few ways your Eminence!

THESE STEPS ARE JPPSG CERTIFIED!

Step 1

Before doing any work, do an auto-scan to stop stupidity, as aforementioned, no one appears to RTFB anyway, however, to prevent entirely do the following by JPPSG.

Step 2 SAFE STEP

Disconnect battery by proper procedure, perform work on bench of components and reinstall and power up.

Step 3 "HOT" STEP WITH 100% SUCCESS FOR MAJESTIC ONLY!

When needing to work stuff hot or perform programming on clusters etc. in car for Gypsy locksmiths.

Unplug module for ABS directly or not be lazy and RTFB WD, pull respective fuses to stop the terminal's 15, 30 and 31 for sleep mode routine for ram savings & again with all consumers OFF & first before commencing work hot!

Complete work details, shut down, re-plug or install fuses powered down for ABS module.

All settings for components should be in working order provided you did your job details correct when commencing a reboot.

This works perfect for retrieving ABS coding on bench too in shadow & if you know WTF you are doing!
The ones that dont get their one shot! :rolleyes:

i found it very useful and safe to do an autoscan before doing anything
as for losing abs coding, these days i only working in diagnostic and tuning, im not a mechanic yet
so friends brings me cars since they dont know how to deal with vcds and most of diagnostic and tuning tools

Don't feel bad you are probably ahead of most dealer tech's now, did you know "they" just use guided fault finding & since "they" made the formally unqualified janitor or wash guy a lead tech, he just uses the Nazi in a white coat back in Neu Swabia via online connection?
