So my scan yesterday showed "01325 - Control Module for Tire Pressure Monitoring (J502) 004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent". Is this because I turned the coding off for the TPMS due to new wheels that don't have the censors on them, or does this need to be look into?

Please tell us what you mean with "turned the coding off". What coding did you change?

In the long coding helper I unlocked where TPMS is installed so that CEL doesn't come on

In what module?

Did this car have a direct or an indirect TPMS system?

This car was born with Indirect TPMS (PR-7K6 Tire pressure monitoring system) so there were NOT wheel based sensors from the factory. Since it is equipped with MK60EC1 (rather than MK60EC which was used in some Golf-6 based Audi models) it would not have a separate 65-TPMS module either. Virtual address 4C-Tire Pressure II exists because that's a function of the ABS.

01325 is extremely common DTC after low voltages and tire pressure changes or problems. Normally, I'd suggest resetting it through the DIS or physical button however the fact that changes were made complicates thing. I would highly recommend posting the contents from the Coding and Adaptation logs here for review so we understand exactly what was changed. You can open each of those CSVs with Notepad and paste the contents from each like a scan.

I used the information on the following page to activate Indirect TPMS on my former MK5... (long time ago)

https://www.myturbodiesel.com/pages/tdi-wiki/ --- search for the article PMS activation, reset, and disable coding with VCDS - mk6 VW

Give it a try to follow the steps in the reverse order!

Dana,
I finally got around to finding the coding and adaptation logs:

Now that I go back through VCDS what I think I changed was in 09 Cent Elec, Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS-PR-7K3/7K4/7K5). I unchecked it

CrawDaddy: Dana's response is compelling - but I note your latest revelation and in an attempt to move-forward, I have parsed the change records for the hex09 module from your CodingLog.CSV extract through my handy-dandy macro to produce the table below:

Code:
hex09	Earliest LCode Latest LCode
Byte	Hex	Binary Hex	Binary
0	6E	01101110	6E	01101110
1	00	00000000	00	00000000
2	0A	00001010	0A	00001010
3	0F	00001111	2F	00101111
4	A0	10100000	E0	11100000
5	13	00010011	13	00010011
6	36	00110110	36	00110110
7	E4	11100100	E4	11100100
8	28	00101000	28	00101000

15	4D	01001101	45	01000101

17	1A	00011010	1A	00011010
18	60	01100000	60	01100000
19	AA	10101010	AA	10101010

27	80	10000000	00	00000000
28	00	00000000	00	00000000
29	40	01000000	40	01000000

To explain the data:
  • The columns in Earliest LCode are the oldest "from" record in your CodingLog.CSV extract - which I assume are the long-code values that are nearest to the factory values in the hex09 module
  • The columns in Latest LCode are the newest "to" record in your CodingLog.CSV extract - which are exactly the same as the long-code values in the hex09 module in your auto-scan.
I don't have the information to decode the software switch functions in your hex09 module - perhaps you can take-over the rest of the analysis?

^^^Jack:I know that cats are cute-fluffy creatures that are adored by many - but I hate cats with a vengeance!!

It might be different up there in the land of the free, but down here cats are the single greatest threat to our native wildlife. I have many feral-cats that freely roam the neighboring bush-land with impunity (some of them are so big that lope like leopards when they walk).

For me, the best and only good use of a cat is their skin - they make excellent hats (bit like your Daniel Boon Coonskin hat)!!

Since the direct TPMS tweak was un-done in address 09 I do not believe the coding needs to be changed in that module to resolve the TPMS code.

You should be able to reset the indirect TPMS using the DIS or physical button. After doing so a test drive with properly inflated tires should allow you to clear 01325 - Control Module for Tire Pressure Monitoring (J502) - No Signal/Communication.

Much appreciated! I reset the TPMS and I believe all is good. Later today I will do a rescan to see if the original fault still shows up.
