Can anyone help with a my scan.... Looking at my faults the mileage number are close to the current mileage which makes me think the fault was recent but the dates are 2014.09.15, several years ago. The faults were cleared less than a years ago. What am I missing? (Ill dig into whats the faults are telling me in a separate post). Thanks Staudie

Probably not missing anything, the dates come from the modules in the car and it's pretty common for weird dates to be reported to VCDS by the modules.

Let's start with the obvious:

Is the date in the car (instrument cluster and/or infotainment system) set correctly? 'Cause if that's not correct at the time the fault code set, then an incorrect date will be recorded.

I cant set a date only time, well not that I know of its a 2011 VW GTI Autobahn.

Right, my prior 2010 GTI didn't know the date (year, month, day) either and it liked to set DTCs with FF that didn't make any sense. It is highly unlikely but you can run an Adp function map on your cluster and see if channels such as

[*IDE00502-ENG99640*] Year
[*IDE00503-ENG102026*] Month
[*IDE00504-ENG103838*],Day

.. happen to be available.

I gave that a try but no dice. I did how ever get the correct date on some on the modules when checking them individually. Either way I have moved on to the errors.
