2008 VW Rabbit ABS Issues

I took my car to a shop to have my lower control bushings replaced and while there the mechanic stated that my dash panel lite up like a Christmas tree and he "shut off" my ABS module. I am trying to undo what this mechanic did.

Have you asked him what he did to "shut it off"?

Have you asked him if he's willing to accept the liability for sending you on your way with an ABS that he shut off? If you get in an accident with this car, I'm confindent your insurance company's lawyer would make that guy's life rather miserable.

Since the ABS isn't talking to any of the other modules, I'd check power to it first. My guess is he pulled some fuses. In addition, it looks like he removed it from the Gateway's Installation List.

Since the ABS isn't talking to any of the other modules, I'd check power to it first. My guess is he pulled some fuses. In addition, it looks like he removed it from the Gateway's Installation List.

I had the same thought, missing fuses, etc... You know, you maybe better off having this person put the vehicle back the way he found it. Lights and all! this could be as simple as a concern with a wheel speed sensor.. damaged, wiring concern.. etc

At least this way it may be easier to diagnoses this concern and that way he might not be getting calls from hungry lawyers.

I have asked that very question and he states he can't remember. I have checked the fuses and they are good. My Speedometer and steering assist doesn't work and my fuel gauge is intermittent. The VCDS states the ABS Module has no response.Any other ideas on what could he could have done and is there a way to get is back into the Gateway list? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Get the WD, check the "holly trinity" first - power, ground and data at ABS module connector.

All Fuses are good and the ABS is plugged in. I also don't have communication with my vehicle speed signal, my steering assist, and my databus for infotainment. Any thoughts? The mechanic that did the original work did allow my battery to go dead, would that play a factor?

Do you have power and ground at terminals 15, 30 and 31 plus CAN high/low twisted set at module itself of connector with DVOM using RTFB and WD?

Did you contact NHTSA to report issues & check for safety campaigns yet?
