Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro s-tronic 0B5 (DL501) problem

Hello all!

i just bought titled year 2009 audi. Gearbox has an extraordinary habit to jerk when engaging gear specially in first and second gear, and also when in engine braking it feels like clutch is slipping and taking little, it notice in tachometer. And when stationary it occasionally try to close the clutch, noticeable in consumption per/hour and little vibration.

I already try to start with the instructions given by drpeter, but stopped in engagement point adaptation, it gives error when tryin to start it.
(Clutch valve calibration / clutch engagement point adaptation / Distance sensor calibration / Erase counter for start and stop processes)

any help, not want to bye new gearbox or mechatronic.

Hello!

Today I tried basic settings procedure;

[Clutch valve calibration]
-aborted for safety reasons
[Distance sensor calibration]
-finished
[Erase counter for start and stop processes]
request out of range

I checked the adv measurements that the clutch is break in or how its called.

still the problem occurs, when in D and stationary, almost every time in short time it starts to engage drive. at first everything is fine and about 30-60seconds consumption rises to 2.3l/h or similar. normal to me is 1.4l/h, sometimes 1.2l/h.

mechanic problem?

Thanks for update!

Some clarification on instructions, you wrote in notes clutch engagement point adaptation, but in settings list that should do is clutch valve calibration? Which one you mean or both and wich order?

Do these setting somehow are equivalent to VAS settings for gearbox?

Tried the new guidance today, there is no significant difference to my problem.
Erase counter for start and stop processes
- error request out of range
Clutch valve calibration
- aborted for safety reasons
Distance sensor calibration
- finished correctly

I think I need to go deeper into the settings. or its just mechanical failure

I tried to ask earlier do you know how the audi VAS-program do the basic settings?

Hey guys. Thanks for all the great work. I have US 2010 S4 and was hoping to re calibrate my DSG Stronic. It's never been butter smooth but I felt like its been going downhill and maybe it needed a little love (I had the 2nd dsg service about a year ago with a slight improvement.)

Anyways I tried the above procedure after warming things up a little and got the following
[Erase counter for start stop processes] = Error: request out of range
[Clutch Valve Calibration] = Aborted safety reasons (engine held the revs up a bit for about a minute)
[Distance sensor calibration] = Aborted Safety Reasons (made some clicking and clunking for a few seconds)

I drove home from work about 25 min and tried it when I got home but I think the gearbox was too hot as it said something like steps not followed and/or not in parameters. After an hour or so it ran and gave the same results. I tried putting my foot on the brake like the wiki instructions on the other gear boxes in case that was the 'safety reason" but same result.

It's possible though that it is driving a little smoother. It seems to have better days depending on the warm weather so it could be all in my head. I hope this helps and I'll be happy to try something else.

We may want to advise against this procedure until we know more about it. About a week after performing it I started getting multiple clutch overheating warnings and codes. It could be coincidence, or not finishing the adaption could have left things even further out of calibration. I imagine the dealer can do the calibration correctly if one has done this and wants to confirm its correct.

- If you could provide us with some Advanced Measuring Value block values when this concern happens again, like:

010 - Write/reset gear set excessive temperature counter
028 - Control Module temperature
035 to 049 - Counter for operation with increased engine oil temp
064 to 078 - Excess temperature counter
239 - Number of prevented stop processes - Transmission fluid temperature too high

- That way we could have some information to work with, also if there are any fault codes, please post the Auto-Scan,

Just curious......

Have you tried to check the fluid levels............and cooler for proper flow or blockage/air restriction?

Especially external ATF filter! ?

On rare occasion............
Someone leaves the plugs in the ATF cooler pipes or filter during service and it never flows causing an over heat and bypass within trans condition.

It is my opinion this filter and ATF cooler size are inadequate.

Did you do the adaptation drive after performing this?

Tried this on my 2009 S4
Clutch engagement point adaptation = unknown
Clutch valve calibration = aborted
Distance sensor calibration was successful none of the others will work

EDIT: after an hour of driving it is smoother than it's ever been.

Update on this:
Over time the transmission has got steadily worse back to the point it was before I attempted the calibrations, I think new mech unit may be required.

Does anyone see any readings that make them see red and say that I shouldn't go ahead and try the basic procedure when I get chance in the next week or so?

2010 Audi S5 - DSG/S-Tronic 0B5 / DL501 / MNL

Hello,

I've also tried this procedure without much success. I would appreciate if someone could help figuring out the correct steps.

Step 1: Erase counter for start and stop processes => Error: "Request out of range“
Step 2: Clutch valve calibration => Error: "Aborted for safety reasons”.
Step 3: Distance sensor calibration: completed successfully one time.

Next day I retried different order of the Steps with Engine ON/OFF and also holding the brake:

1. Clutch valve calibration => Error: Conditions not correct or request out of sequence
2. Distance sensor calibration - => Error: Conditions not correct or request out of sequence
3. Erase counter for start and stop processes => Error: Request out of range

I tried getting a read for these values, but without success

010 - Write/reset gear set excessive temperature counter - VCDS Program crashes when reading this
028 - Control Module temperature -N/A to all
035 to 049 - Counter for operation with increased engine oil temp -N/A to all
064 to 078 - Excess temperature counter -N/A to all
239 - Number of prevented stop processes - Transmission fluid temperature too high -N/A

DSG oil temperature was OK, level was checked...the calibration was done by the dealer recently after a SW update but that didn't fix the issues and now I will replace the mechatronics but I need this to work in order to complete the adaptation.

Yes, I did try that although it shouldn't really matter as long as the software runs and is able to communicate correctly with the interface.
