Good morning,
Recently purchased and repaired a 2004 TOUAREG V6 3.2L that was a crank but no start car. Replaced both fuel pumps and re-wired the drivers side plenum ebox. Now the car is on the road (with many thanks to Dana, Uwe and Jack).
No check engine lights of any kind.
2 warnings regarding brake pads and one flat tire - not concerning.
PROBLEM:
I was driving the car with my wife and I was testing the gear box. Shifting between the normal "D" drive and the manual triptronic gears "1,2,3,4,5,6" for only a moment.
When I went to return the shift lever from the manual triptronic to the auto "D" drive it was difficult to get it back in to "D" drive, but it did resume normal automatic gear shifting.
Then unexpectetly/unwantedly the display on the dash would display the individual gear that it was in "1,2,3,4,5,6" and it would not shift out of the gear that it was in-second gear at the time and the revs went about 3500 going slow in my neighborhood.
I parked the Touareg and put the shift lever back in park. Then shifted back in to "D" drive and everything was again normal.
It happened again this morning on my way to work. Driving along normally in "D" drive and the revs spiked. Again with the dash displaying all of the individual gears "1,2,3,4,5,6" and it was on second gear.
Again pulled over and shifted to park. Again, then shifted to "D" drive and finished the drive to work.
Is there something that could be causing the car to unwantingly shift into triptronic manual mode with no codes or faults?
I will get a fresh auto scan when I get home tonight.
Is this something that I can address with the VCDS cable/software?
Thanks David
