eGolf trunk pop from key fob not where ECS instructions say it should be...?

I would like to change my trunk pop with key fob/remote to be able to use the ECSTuning trunk pop kit I bought and installed. The key fob button to pop the trunk just flashes the lights, does not trigger the trunk pop.

PS... The Ross-Tech wiki seems to be down.

Thank you Dana, It was there and I have it now set to active and it is working. How did you know where to look? It was exactly where you said. I had searched all over looking for that and all of the posts and videos I could find said to look where Jetta ,97 said.

Because some cars has different set up, with your Autoscan she was able to pull up data and see.
Not all cars are made same way , they maybe G7 but different level. If instructions are not same , then what I usually do , I search by world in search box, in your case it would be search " Direkter Auswurf des Heckdeckels".

Also old data I would said 2 years ago in VCDS was not written same as current version, that could be other thing that you may not be able find it under instructions I gave you.

MK7: If I can add to Jetta 97's sage response - Because Dana is one of the Ross-Tech deities, she most likely has access to information facilities that us mere mortals can only dream about (and sadly, I often do

But, since you already have a VCDS cable, you also have the capability to become a quasi-God (a bit like Dana- but most definitely, not the same). All you need to do is to generate a BCM adaptation channel map (otherwise called an "admap") with a .CSV file structure. To do this, make sure that you set-up the admap dialogue box in the VCDS software like this:

After you press the "Go" button, lots of secret VCDS magic happens (the BCM on a MQB platform vehicle can have a 2,000-3,000 channel count, so be patient and make sure the battery is OK).

When the process completes, go to the directory C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\logs and open the file adpmap-09-5Q0-937-085-BN_WVWKR7AU7JW******-yearmonthday-time.CSV with a tool like notepad, or MS-excel

So, you then need to search the database for the adaptation channel name - but the trick to creating your search vector is to understand that mid-way through 2016, there was a change made to many of the BCM adaptation channel names.

A clue to the type of changes that was wrought can be found in a comparison of the adaptation channel names for your particular problem.

But first, here's my very unofficial explanation of the structure of adaptation channel names as reported by the current VCDS software:
Parent Tag number-Child Tag number-Parent name-Child name

and the old VCDS has this structure:
(bracket number)-Parent name-Child name

Ross-Tech doesn't use my nomenclature (I've borrowed terms from relational database theory), but notice that the name-parts are separated by "-".

So, for your problem - the 2 x adaptation channels are:
from your link = (12)-Access control-Direkter Auswurf des Heckdeckels
Dana's suggestion= ENG141653-ENG115759-ZV Heck-Direkter Auswurf des Heckdeckels

Notice that the last part of the 2 x channel names is the same. This then becomes the content of your search: just enter any part of the Child name from the old VCDS software into the search facility (for notepad, or MS-excel) and bingo, you find the correct, new adaptation channel.

But the best part is that with this new skill, you become a quasi-God (albeit with feet of clay - as per the adage !!!

I absolutely agree with the guys and often search my own control module maps when looking to see if I have a particular channel that may add clarity to a support, tweak or retrofit.

In this case I looked at the VCDS ROD file shown in the Auto-Scan and searched for Heckdeckels. Using the Adaptation function search in VCDS -or- searching the CSV would yield the same results but less is more in some cases. So, searching for Heckdeckels (Boot lid) narrowed it down quickly even though the USP Motorsports tutorial was created with VCDS 15 (roughly 5 year ago). Searching for Heck (Rear) results in 380 hits so that wasn't specific enough.
