Hello,
After many years of procrastinating,I have finally bit the bullet and purchased VCDS.
Having played with it for about an hour, I am seriously impressed with the functions that I have found thus far.

I have put my scan on this message, hope it is correct.
There are a couple of fault codes that wont clear.
One is for the telephone module-this is working fine though. Not sure why i am getting the not coded error.
I also have CAN gateway incorrectly coded error.

So as I am totally new to this and am still trawling through the mountains of information on here, I am wary of doing anything untoward to my car.

I have another question, while looking into all the functions, I came across something about the oil quality( oil quality poor). Will need to try to find it again. The oil has only just been changed so was wondering how the message comes about .

Apologies if I seem like a total idiot, but I am a nuts and bolts guy, software is scary new territory to me.

Let's start with the easiest thing first. To fix the CAN Gateway fault:

[Select]
[19-CAN Gateway]
[Installation List]
- Scroll down to 77-Telephone and put a tick-mark next to it.
[Save Coding]

That should change the status of the fault to Intermittent and then you should be able to clear it.

That has helped clear the telephone error. However the Can bus fault returns.

Only because I did. Your 69-Trailer module is also "Not Registered". Add it to the Gateway's Installation List just like you did the Telephone module.

I think you will find that is because the car is on fixed (time and mileage) rather than long life servicing.

So have been trying to get this to work, but still no luck.
I even put the original code back in. Seems to be showing an open circuit fault.
This is strange as the BT unit was working fine until I made the initial coding change.

When I try to pair, my phone is seeing the VW bluetooth, however on the steering, my Ok and Arrow buttons will not let me acknowledge the phone.(they do not respond )
For any other function the OK and arrow buttons work.

I have cleared the error code for the phone module and it seems to be returning.
has my module had it?

I have also changed to coding back to the original code for the telephone module, in the hope that it would work again. No joy there either.
So am at abit of a loss

OK, A bit of an update, I have tried again.
I am finding that the car is trying to connect to the BT unit, however it is waiting for a response from me. However when I push the OK button on the steering wheel,nothing happens.
The up and down arrows also dont work when the BT page is on the MFD, if i go to any other menu they work fine.

So for now i have unplugged the BT unit. I will plug it in and try again.
I am starting to suspect it might have nothing to do with the BT unit,but perhaps, comms between the radio? or software.

So I am still struggling with this issue.
Have posted a scan again.
Any help would be appreciated.

My phone sees the Bt unit and asks to connect, the MFD aks me to confirm too, however, I get no response when pressing the Ok button on the steering wheel.
I have been searching for this issue, but dont have an answer yet.

Are you trying to connect to your phone from the car? Or are you using your phone to connect to the car? Try both ways.

Can you use the touchscreen on the RCD510 to accept the connection rather than the MFD?

Hello Viking,
I do not get any prompts on the touch screen.
I have tried both ways, the phone sees the car and asks if |i want to connect.
It then shows a pin asking if it is correct.
The car then asks me if i want to connect to the phone, at this point, I cannot confirm with the OK button.It does not respond

So when you try and pair have you deleted the original pairing on the phone? Starting from the beginning, search for the car from your phone (should locate VW Phone I think) then connect. Does it ask you to input s 4 digit code or does it volunteer a code match?
