I've done a 3G to 3G+ retrofit on my 2010 A6 and I'm stuck on a few problems. I'm out of ideas at the moment. I haven't ruled out a hardware issue, but everything worked fine before the retrofit. The radio unit is from a 2014 A8 and all other hardware is original to the A6.
First, what does work. All audio and NAV features appear to be functioning ok. I did a firmware update today to the latest available and I also now have the Audi Connect icon on the settings menu. I'm still working out fitting a GSM antenna to the head unit, so SIM/network features are still TBD.

My steering wheel controls no longer work, I'm missing the MMI info at the top of the gauge cluster display, a bunch of MMI menu items are grayed out, I can't set the time on the clock, and I have several persistent faults in the MMI module. I did disconnect the MMI panel a few times and actually tried a panel from a 2013 Q7 as well, but abandoned that when I got the original panel working. I didn't modify any harness or connectors, so I'd be surprised if I did any damage to the wiring, but I guess anything is possible.
