My 2009 Q5 is throwing a engine check light at start up every time i drive it
Tried resetting the fault but it always comes back the next time I start the engine after it’s been driven
It’s running fine no noticeable changes other than the constant check engine light

i replaced the MAP sensor (03C906051F) with a Bosch 261230234 , Confirmed no Vacuum leaks (propane tank and hose) ,
cleaned the throttle body (it was dirty) , Ran the TBA with the engine at temp Adapt moved from 6 to 2
Still getting the same error at engine start up after a drive but not if I just start and stop the engine

noticed my accelerator sensor values were a bit strange but I’m guessing this is just a new rabbit hole I should avoid


Any one able to confirm the values below are normal

is it normal for the ENG and IDE values to be so far apart 0 vs 15%

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome

Why not have a look at battery, freewheel pulley/alternator and belt plus charging system as a whole for connections & function yet?

Hello,

I would suggest to check the Advanced Measuring Values for the F96 and the G31(G71) pressures with the key on and the engine off.

These values should be equal or very close.

The fault will set when there is a difference of about 210-230 hPa (+/-), according to some of the Audi repair information.

I think fault code and FF data together are self-explaining.
Use RTFB and WD, find where F96 barometric pressure sensor is located and find out why it is measuring incorrectly.
Of course, if You are not high above sea level. At sea level barometric pressure 920 mbar is not correct measurement.

P.S. Dr Peter was faster with the same suggestions ;)

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions

I replaced the MAP sensor mounted right behind and above the TB

Anyone have any ideas where the second MAP sensor is physically located

I’ll look into the battery and the charging system ASAP didn’t notice that one

I’ll post the MAP sensor deltas from the advanced measurement values ASAP

hopefully that’s the issue causing the P0106 fault code

I would suggest to check the Advanced Measuring Values for the F96 and the G31(G71) pressures with the key on and the engine off.


These values should be equal or very close.

The fault will set when there is a difference of about 210-230 hPa (+/-), according to some of the Audi repair information.

Do you have a RTFB and WD so you can observe it because that is what you need?

Sorry for any confusion....

So in the quote below, I was making mention of two (2) sensors:
1) F96-arometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor = "Ambient pressure"
2) G71-Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor = "Intake manifold pressure: absolute"

The G31-Charge Air Pressure Sensor is for forced induction engines...

This is why the forum is not a substitute for the RTFB and observation of SSP design and function & to familiarize yourself with circuits or operation of components/locations.

Well.. there is only a 70 hPa difference in your values at the time the were being observed. So the code should not set .. technically, according to some information I had found in the repair manuals, however I do recall some documents wanting less than 100? I could be wrong..

You could do a 'wiggle' test of the harness, connectors, ecm, grounds, etc while observing these values live with the key on/engine off. Be sure to maintain battery voltage.

Maybe an ECM concern... hard to be sure.. You can use VCDS to clear fault codes three (3) times in a row in less than 30-sconds in the [01-Engine], then cycle the ignition off/on after about a 10 second wait... or You can disconnect the battery for 30 min and see if the code clears?

It would not hurt to use the Basic Settings for the Throttle Body Alignment, then run an Auto-Scan, clear all DTC's and see what comes back..

I’m going to purchase another different manufacturer MAP sensor and see if it gets closer
To the intake manifold sensor values I found several other vehicle scans on other sites
And all of the scans I reviewed were almost identical readings with in 1-2 MBar

Think you would mine more GOLD checking and qualifying the harness or tracks shared versus changing out parts?

Ever consider a tester such as a decade box and load lights?

Have you read the entire JPPSG thread yet?
