    12715520 - No retrofit/stock car - but code doesn't get cleared

I got my HEX-V2 today and wanted to post a reference scan however noticed a fault code/malfunction

Have no mods/retrofit done to car, saw another post on the forum saying to clear the code but it comes back

No warning message on dash and everything seems to be working normally (unless I'm not testing properly)

Did you turn on or off aggressive mode in config of VCDS?

Did you try clearing codes in OBD2 mode fast three times?

Meh, a "missing message" fault in the Kessy?

Did you have something disconnected in your search for DRL solutions?

Nope, nothing disconnected, KESSY works as usual too.

And, yes I tried disabling aggressive mode but doesn't work

Haven't tried the OB2 mode clearing, I was just clicking the "Clear DTC" button where you can take an Auto-Scan. Will try the OBD2 clear and report back

I suspect that suggestion from Jack is rather pointless. I'm confident that the Kessy module doesn't pay any attention to requests sent to the generic OBD-II "functional" address.

What should I do? Is there a way of finding out what exactly "missing message" actually decodes to?

If it were mine, and everything in the car is working as it should, I would shrug and and assume it's spurious and due to some kind of software or configuration bug from the factory. But I've come to accept that cars made recently are so damn complicated that expecting then to be totally free of fault codes is unrealistic.

However: If you've made any Coding or Adaptation, you could certainly reverse them and see if that has any effect.

It means the software in that module is expecting to receive one or more messages from some other module via the car's networks but it isn't. In some cases, the fault codes come with additional elaboration that gives clues as to what kind of messages are missing from where, but that doesn't appear to be the case here.

But the fault code has a priority of 4, doesn't that mean that it "affects driving performance"?

Also, what I'm trying to understand is, if I clear the DTC, it comes back with updated FREEZE FRAME data, however the fault frequency remains 1

Shouldn't it be increasing since the conditions that are causing the fault are always present? Also, if the conditions are not always present, then shouldn't "Clear All DTCs" take care of this problem?

One more thing, what exactly does counts as "Reset Counter", is it ignition cycles for example turning on-and-off the engine 219 times? Or is it something else like letting the BCM sleep etc?

Not all modules respond correctly to "Clear All DTCs", it's sometimes necessary to select individual modules and clear DTCs one module at a time - this is a known "feature" in the VAG firmware.
